Guys like Walton and Vitale (entertaining in their own right) are polar opposites of Knight, and not quite the same caliber, imo. Bob does have a dry sense of humor (he'll drop a line once in awhile) but generally talks about the two teams playing.

Bob simply takes the game more seriously.

for the uneducated fan Bob Knight is 100% the better option. I am not an uneducated fan, I often prefer to watch games on mute (every time if Vitale is the commentator, same with Joe Buck/Troy Aikman, etc). But Bill Walton is hilarious because he doesn't care. He says some of the most insane things I've ever heard instead of trying to cater to people who have been watching basketball for 1 year and never played in their lives.

That's the thing...if the whole conference sucks compared to other conferences -like football supposedly did this season- why should beating up on each other do squat in terms of national rankings?

On the other hand, 10-of-14 B1Gs are playing in cfb post-season bowls - which is the reason we play at all, isn't it? I'd wager at least half of the conference will be Dancing too. Still and all, it's depressing.

If you needed further proof that this isn't last year's Ohio State team, giving up 15 points in 3:30 to start this game should do it. Matta's defensive mastery doesn't seem to have rubbed off yet. If it doesn't by the end of the year, the Bucks are probably looking at a 8-9 seed at best.
