Until Iowa decides they want to try to play defense again they arent going to be a thrrat to beat anyone decent. The team has just quit guarding. Its really quite strange.

OSU: That last time out to set up the offense was just DUMB AS SHIT!!!! I'll never understand some of these coaching moves. We had numbers, momentum and Penn St. was scrambling... why stop that to run the worst play of the year and let a guy shoot who flat out sucks most of the time.

while i agree with you in principal...how can you ask for anything more than the wide open 3 that lenzelle smith had? I thought he was a pretty good 3 point shooter (as in, the best or second best on your team). normally i think having the defense scrambling is a good thing, but in this case if you get a wide open 3 you can't necessarily complain about the execution.

yup.. I was just shocked when they called time.

Not surprising though. The part of college bball that sucks for nearly every team I watch is when they are going for the last shot. It just about always ends in a horrible shot.

Smith may also be the most inconsistent shooter on the team as well. I personally don't like him spotting up for 3s unless he's already hit a bunch that game. The most consistent score we can get is when craft drives in for a layup... which is the shot we had before time was called. Aside from that, I don't trust anyone's shooting.

Don't get me wrong, I do like Smith. He plays hard.. but when he's in a slump, he can't hit the broad side of the barn, but even worse, he tries to shoot himself out of that slump. I guess overall, I just don't like the fact that we shot a 3 to end the game. They should have tried for a higher % shot.
