I hope you are right on Nebraska. I would really like to see Nebraska end up 7th at worse in the Big 10 this season and get an NIT bid. It would show a great amount of growth.

These are actually the type of games where you think Nebraska can take the next step, only to have your heart ripped out.

Its A LOT tougher to make the NIT now than it used to be RA so dont be disappointed if the Huskers dont make it. Regular season winners that dont win their conference tourneys are automatically given a bid to the NIT and then you will see probably the top 10-14 bubble teams get bids as well. That generally leaves only 8-10 spots open for teams like Nebraska. The one thing you have going for you is the new arena and the renewed excitement for Husker BB. The NIT wants to sell tickets so if you guys keep filling the seats that will go a long way in getting a bid especially since it has been some time since you ahd a postseason bid.

Yup this for the most part. You have to be over .500 don't you?

They won't always just go with right in line of the bubble teams though. LIke lets say NC has some god awful year....the NIT it going to not only invite them but give them a good seed.

Most important thing is the money.

I figure Nebraska will need 16 regular season wins (that's 4 more) and at least one win in the Big 10 tournament maybe 2 to be considered.

Honestly my guess is that you need to get to 18 wins. Iowa went 2 years ago at 17-16 but that Iowa team had 5 wins vs the top 25 and still only got a 7 seed in the NIT.

IU and B1G overreacting to Smart incident. Sent out like a 2 page email, here's a part:

Thank you for your continuing support of IU Basketball this season. Your passion and enthusiasm for our program is truly unrivaled. However, in light of the unfortunate incident involving an Oklahoma State player and a Texas Tech fan this past weekend, we wanted to send out a friendly reminder to always comport yourself with the class long associated with the gameday experience at Assembly Hall.

Remember..

-Profane, racial, sexist, or otherwise abusive taunts, signs, comments or actions directed at student-athletes, officials, team representatives, or other fans will not be tolerated PERIOD. We have asked our ushers and security personnel to be extra vigilant on these matters. The conference has asked the same of officials. Keep it classy!

Eighteen wins including a W against either MSU at the Breslin (not happening) or Wisconsin at the Bank (doable) and possibly a B1G Tourney team like Wisky, Ohio State or maybe Minnesota gets them in, IMO.... Nebraska is 2-7 against 1-50 (RPI) and has zero good road wins, so there is a lot of work to be done. Not that you have to be road warriors to land in the NIT but a little win streak to close the season would definitely help (selection committees like hot teams).

People can laugh all day long at Penn State, until they beat you because you're sleepwalking. Realistically they aren't going anywhere this year but still a .500 team with a good coach. Now if they could just recruit and keep kids (like Trey Burke) they'll make it to the Tourney again. And there's plenty of talent to discover across the midwest and up into the northeast.

Crazy make by Ferrell...

You've got the lead.

True that. Came out sleepwalking though, fans still haven't got going. Just as the commentator pointed out everytime we go on a run PSU counters to stay in it.

We need this game for prides sake. Not a must win cause we aren't going dancing this year.

I hear ya. These are growing pains right now for IU. I would expect them to be right back in the mix next year however.

I swear I've never seen so many and 1's given up by any team. Crean needs to teach them to foul like they mean it or not at all.

Indiana is the definition of a young basketball team. Right when I think I've got a read on who they are, they do something to make me rethink them. With all of that talent, it's amazing that Crean hasn't done more with them.
