Big Ten basketball blog:

"Illinois Free Falling...Illinois continues it's free fall...Groce's squad desperately needs wins...if Illinois cannot pick up a win at home versus Iowa this week that might be all she wrote for this year's Illini."

Illinois falls to Iowa 74-81

It just proves that all eastern teams are very strong in CBB.. Imagine if the Big East wasn't dismantled from last year.. How strong would that conference be? Think about it, two of the best teams in the ACC are from the Big East..

Michigan hasn’t won in Assembly Hall since Tom Crean’s first season, when it needed overtime to do so. Michigan isn’t going undefeated in the Big Ten, but this is certainly a win the Wolverines are hoping to grab in order to keep pace ahead of Michigan State, the main competition on the road to a Big Ten title.

The Big Ten is a two-team race at the top with Michigan and Michigan State and the remaining schedule favors the Spartans slightly

For Indiana, NCAA tournament discussion isn’t on the table right now, but a red out, an electric crowd and the need for a win could propel the Hoosiers into an inspired effort in a building where they own a 46-5 record over the past three seasons

Michigan paper:

Michigan and Indiana, two young teams growing in two very different directions , meet Sunday at IU’s Assembly Hall on CBS

The crutch of youth can often bear only so much weight. Sometimes it can be an excuse for shortcomings. Other times it can be a reason for success.

In Indiana, the Hoosiers’ youthfulness is being cited as rationale for inconsistency and struggles.
At Michigan, youth is a fleeting portrayal.

Indiana is searching for answers. Michigan has already found its.

Don't forget the 4 teams in the AAC are also BE teams(Memphis didn't actually play in it but joined before the shit storm took over).

No, Indiana helped Indiana's case

Fair enough. Michigan's RPI, BPI, ranking, B1G standing, etc..., etc..., helping IU's case.

Michigan played like dogshit today and will need to regroup this coming week to be taken seriously.

Michigan will face Indiana again in early March (on ESPN) at the Crisler Center ("The House that Cazzie Built") in front of the Maize Rage student section, where Michigan is 9-1 this season. Indiana is 1-4 on the road

Hoosiers probably need to get to to 10-0 in league for a bid imo but today certainly helps

The Columbus Dispatch today (columnist Ray Stein):

Cupcakes not the proper diet

It’s official: Ohio State is snakebit. I’ve never seen a team go from a No. 1 seed to (an NCAA tournament) bubble team so quickly, and I’ve been watching OSU basketball since Bobby Knight was riding the bench.

The so-called basketball experts say that the OSU men’s basketball team fell from a 15-0 start to 16-5 due to the weak nonconference schedule they play. The same can be said for the football team.

With this in mind, will Thad Matta ever play a tougher schedule like, say, Michigan State does? I agree with those who say that a tougher nonconference schedule better prepares you for your conference. This goes not only for the basketball program, but the football program, as well.

I believe if the OSU football program played a tougher schedule, it would have better prepared them to play Michigan State (B1G CG) and Clemson (Orange Bowl).

Never before has watching Badger basketball felt like a chore, but it is now. I don't think we can beat Illinois tomorrow, there's a lot wrong with this team and I have faith in Coach Ryan but at the moment I'm not sure there's anyone on this team with the confidence to step up in a game and say I'm going to make a play and but this basketball team on my back. The closest thing is Nigel Hayes but he doesn't finish at the free throw line.

I'm not worried about making this team making the NCAA tournament. But, the tourney run will be over that first weekend if this kind of play continues. Which is sad because there's a great deal of talent on this roster.
