Sparty is taking the huskers to the wood shed right now...up 20 early in the 2nd half
I cannot fathom how Indiana is still only 7 teams away from dancing in Lunardi mind
Name recognition is the only fucking thing I can think of. It's a pretty awfully weak year for the bubble, but Indiana belongs nowhere near it. They are 13/14 in the B1G right now and Rutgers is the only thing keeping them from being in last. (not to mention the 15-13 overall record)
Yeah, I don't get how IU is even relatively close, other than they have really good metric numbers(relatively speaking to what their record is) 45 in KenPom, 31 in Sagarin, 30 in BPI. So I guess if you average out those metrics they'd be like a 9/10 seed, but you just can't do that. Their RPI is 100, that would be 26 spots higher than lowest ranked RPI team to ever make the field. I mean they're 5-10 in a down B1G. Just doesn't make sense.
It's this shit right here why I hope they never go the analytical route to select the teams and ultimately seed the teams.
I don't think they will.
There is no way you can justify putting a team that's way under .500 in their conference and 13/14th in the tournament, not matter what some advanced metrics say.
I'm guessing Lunardi just had to throw some teams up there to fill out his bracketology. Since the bubble is so weak this year coming up with a First 4 out Next 4 out is probably a difficult task.
Some guy from CBS had Ohio State in the tournament in his bracketology a few weeks ago. He literally said when asked about it "I just had to put someone there to fill the bracket"
I agree. I think Illinois and OSU both have better cases than Indiana. Shit Indiana is closer to Penn St and Iowa than they are Illinois and OSU imoHaving done the exercise all year, it is difficult to find teams in the next 4 OUT category. But just looking at his, I'd probably have Rhode Island before Indiana, and hell I'd even have Illinois and Ohio State ahead of them as well. I mean Indiana is 8-13 against the top 200 teams they've faced. They are 5 games under .500 against the top 2/3rds of college basketball. That is awful, and it can't be understated enough.

KU is in the Big XII, @douggie
Michigan is in!
Michigan could be as high as a 6th seed just like FSU.And gets to face FSU in the first round
