what fun.
With 5-star McD'sAA Caleb Swanigan joining 5-star McD'sAA Deytona Davis, a couple of 4-star sharpshooters and WVA transfer Eron Harris, it seems that Tom Izzo already has a team for next year that is far more talented than the gang that just shocked the country earning a FF slot this year. Looks like Sparty's going to give Maryland a run for its B1G money. S'just possible too that, barring injuries, MSU might make a serious run for Izzo's long-overdue #2.
hot diggity dog! these are good years to be green.

:suds:

The BIG is actually looking like it might be back "up" next year.

dunno about the conference as a whole...but MD, OSU and MSU sure look promising, don't they? would be helpful if some B1G homers could brag-up the other 11 squads for our benefit, though.

meh badgers will be ok. Bo always seems to figure something out with some random guy making a huge leap and suddenly being good. We are gonna be pretty small up front though and at first glance don't appear to have much depth. Going to need good production from our lesser known guys from 2013 (hopefully vitto and riley can step up)

I don't know about the rest but Michigan will be up there with with the top teams in the Big 10 race next season.

Nebraska lost 4 of their top 5 scorers.

We would have had 4 out of 5 returning, but 3 of them left voluntarily in the past few weeks.

Not looking good for the Huskers.

Both Pitchford and Smith would have been seeing 30+ minutes a game next season. Both would be starters obviously.

I like Michigan slightly better than Wisconsin next year, and Illinois slightly better than Iowa next year, but outside of that it looks pretty much spot on to me. Penn State and Nebraska both have some nice talent coming in, but they will both be extremely young. Rutgers will be terrible again. I think 11 teams could conceivably make the tournament next year. Obviously that isn't going to happen, but I think the B1G could get 7 or 8 next year. Teams that should be vastly improved IMO are MD, MSU, Indiana, Michigan, Purdue and Illinois. Ohio State will have talent, albeit young talent. I could see them landing as a 8-10 seed next year. Wisconsin takes a significant step back IMO. 5-7 range in terms of seeding. And Iowa will take a step back IMO as well, bubble team Last 4 IN/First 4 OUT type of team IMO.

Overall, should be a better year for the B1G than last year was.

The only hope Nebraska has is Seniors Shavon Shields and Benny Parker.

How much will their last year mean to them? Enough to motivate young talent around them? Doubtful, but hopefully.

Smart's rankings mirror Gary Parrish's redonk early T25+1...MD#3, MSU#4, IU#12, WIS#16 and MICH#18. Did Levert go NBA yet or not? If so, MICH drops out of contention, again. even - If not, I would still sincerely doubt that MICH deserves a T25 ranking. Nice to see AJHammons returning for his sr year.

1. MD
2. MSU

3. OSU
4. IU
5. PUR
6. WIS
7. ILL

8. MICH
9. MINN
10. IOWA

Illinois picks up Charlotte transfer Mike Thorne. Huge get for them as he will more than likely start at Center right away. Also Illinois is involved with Nova transfer Dylan Ennis. With Abrahms coming back from injury and a top 20 recruiting class Illinois could potentially be a top 25 team next season. Nunn, Hill and Black are all back next season.

Despite Red Grange & Dick Butkus I've always thought of Illinois as a 'basketball school'...s'good to see that program finally kick in (crazy that it's taken so long, considering ILL's a prep basketball-crazy state and the school's proximity to Chicago & St. Louis recruiting.)
