3 RBs in the last 15 years have won the Heisman. 2 of them, Bush and Ingram, were on undefeated teams at the time of the vote. The other, Ron Dayne, had 2 losses and capped off an NCAA record breaking career.

A little more on the 2,000+ yard rushers:
5 of the 16 won the Heisman
1 finished 2nd (Troy Davis 1996)
1 finished 3rd (Larry Johnson 2002)
2 finished 4th (Tomlinson 2000 & Andre Williams 2013)
1 finished 5th (Troy Davis 1995)
1 finished 6th (Byron Hanspard 1996)
1 finished 7th (Ray Rice 2007)
2 finished 8th (JJ Arrington 2004 & Kevin Smith 2007)
2 finished outside of the top 10 (Matt Forte 2007 & Donald Brown 2008)

Davis finished 2nd on a team that was 2-9.

AA has had 110 and 123 against MSU. I envision him in the 120 to 150 range and to be more involved in the passing game than before. Add another 50-60 receiving yards. 2 or 3 total TDs.

Vegas 9/1 odds.

That's pretty tempting.

 I would seriously J/O if that happened

Could have gotten him at 25/1 last week

That's what I was just about to say.

I wouldn't take those 9/1 odds personally. I can't even believe he's up that high going into the Michigan State game. If he seriously does have a great game in East Lansing, I wonder what his odds go up to.

"2. RB Ameer Abdullah, Nebraska (Last week's ranking: No. 4)
Abdullah probably won't leapfrog Mariota, but a win Saturday against Michigan State would virtually assure the senior of a permanent spot as a Heisman finalist. He's been everything for Nebraska, which leans heavily on Abdullah's game-breaking ability as the centerpiece of coordinator Tim Beck's explosive offense. He's delivered: Abdullah has been the nation's most prolific skill player."

I'm sure Abdullah doesn't go out reading articles like these about himself, but it's impossible for his buddies not to tell him what the media is saying.

The media decides the Heisman trophy. They are telling him exactly what he needs to do here to be a lock to go to New York.

If ever there was a game in Abdullah's career where he has felt like all eyes are on him, this has got to be the one game. Hopefully he comes out like he normally does breaking tackles and making defenders look like fools. This one game could do wonders for him moving forward.

I have chills throughout my body, in fact. Mainly because I love playing against road games.

Heisman Watch: It?s Ameer-acle! «

The Front-runner: Ameer Abdullah, RB, Nebraska

If it feels like an astonishing new Abdullah highlight reel drops every week, that’s because it does.

At one point, playing running back at Nebraska was a shortcut to Heisman consideration. Apparently, this is no longer the case, as evidenced by Abdullah being far from a clear-cut favorite. While some of the arguments leveled against him are fair — yes, Todd Gurley could probably rush for 500 yards on McNeese State, something Abdullah failed to do — he’ll have the chance to silence any and all remaining doubters/critics/agnostics/etc. at no. 10 Michigan State this weekend. If Abdullah can tear it up against Pat Narduzzi’s stingy defense, he’ll deserve to be the Heisman’s one true front-runner. If he doesn’t, then we can return our focus to Melvin Gordon, as there’s room for only one red-and-white-wearing Big Ten running back in this conversation.
