COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel will receive a half-game suspension to be served in Saturday’s opener against Rice, according to TexAgs.com owner Billy Liucci.

Liucci, in citing multiple sources, said the ruling has to do with NCAA bylaw 12.5.2.2. In other words, Manziel would receive a punishment for signing a large number of items for an individual in one sitting, with the understanding he’d know the person was going to profit from his autographs.

because it is a violation to sign memorabilia if you believe it will be sold to the public. It is a rule to stop kids from signing stuff and as soon as they forgo eligibility receive a big check.

Not exactly... I would agree if those 5 games weren't until AFTER the bowl when the players were going to declare for the NFL.

They should start doing it like the NBA and free-throws when someone gets injured... take the highest ranked team at the time of the penalty and make them sit out that game.
