Looking ahead...

There is a lot of value at DL. Reed, Robinson, Jones, Billings, Johnson, Day, Ridgeway, Washington, etc. I don't think this class is getting the credit it deserves for DL talent. It's like the WR class from a couple years ago where there was legit 1st round talent WRs falling into the third. Maybe even better. There's so much talent, it'd be a failure to NOT come away with a DL in this class.

Henry is expected to be the next RB. That'd be a solid pick, but personally, I'd rather snag Howard in the third or Perkins a little latter.

I like Fuller or Mac Alexander. The two guys from Minnesota could be nice grabs somewhere in the late 3rd-5th. Sanchez from OU could be a nice late-round pick as well.

There are a few intriguing OT options. Spriggs is probably the next one off the board.

Then of course, there's Jack.

Thanks for the facepalm, Joey. Obviously you haven't watched this kid play.

Typical response from the Bears board experts, but I should have known better. Anyway...

He is a project that has a lot of potential but he needs a lot of work. Not what you expect for a 1st round pick.

I dont think there was any doubt that part of the deal with Tampa was that the bears were NOT taking their guy. I dont know how it could have been worded or enforced, other than Pace building his name by keeping his word. I would have loved to see a day 1 starter at CB and Terry Porter waived.

Tracy Porter, and they just re-signed him, so that wouldn't really make sense.

But taking Hargreaves and bumping Porter inside to the Nickel would.

Shit, Porter was the lone bright spot in that secondary last year...why the hate?

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders.

This was on the SEC Country web site about Floyd:

WINNER: Leonard Floyd’s tantalizing potential as a ferocious pass rusher
The most dejected NFL team on Thursday? Sometime after 9 p.m., with the Cleveland Browns on the clock (originally drafting eighth), the New York Giants were sitting pretty at No. 10.

By all accounts, the Giants coveted Michigan State offensive tackle Jack Conklin or UGA’s Floyd and would have access to one of the prospects momentarily. But in a cruel turn of fate, the Browns traded their selection to the Tennessee Titans, who grabbed Conklin at No. 8; and then the Bears (originally drafting 11th) moved up two spots, as a not-so-subtle means of stealing Floyd at No. 9.

Well, New York’s loss (yoink!) is now Chicago’s gain. Floyd was one of the draft’s fastest risers, a byproduct of his amazing speed and explosion off the edge, along with the versatility to play in either 4-3 or 3-4 bases.

Now for the tough part: The Bears’ coaches and fans won’t view Floyd as the sturdy college player who was more consistent (three-year average: six sacks, nine tackles for loss) than dominant.

Instead, they’ll daydream about that edge-rush potential and evoke thoughts of Broncos star Von Miller (Super Bowl MVP back in February) or Aldon Smith, who collected 33.5 total sacks for 2011-12, when Vic Fangio — the Bears’ current defensive coordinator — was running the 49ers defense.

Also, heard om ESPN1000 an interview with HOF Bill Polian and he loves the pick.

I'm feeling better about the pick today. Still would not be the pick I would have made but I think we got a good player and the depth could really work out in our favor.

I saw him show up for three games then talk like he should have been all pro.

Then also the mention that Georgia played him at ILB in games they were not playing a zone blocking school.

Joey is a loyalist, if the war for independence started today Joey would be loyal to the King of England, and we would have to shoot him in the face.

McShay is raving about it too. (Not that his opinion means much.)
