purguy, I agree. Lakers fans know they likely won't be in the playoffs. But improvement is the big thing so they can attract the next tier in free agency. I want the Lakers to come back to prominence, parallel with the Heat. The trash talking of a Heat-Lakers finals would reach unholy levels. The word '****' may be thrown out quite a bit as well.

Imo, the Lakers re-build is going exactly as it should. It would have been great to get one of the top level FA's, but to do that, you have to show that you have more than what if's and maybe's which is what the Lakers have now. If the young guys are as good as folks seem to think they will be, then in future FA markets they will actually have something to sell besides California weather and Hollywood.

Teams do sometimes lose in the first round. It happens.

Especially 6 seeds losing to 3 seeded Clipper teams.

Ask Golden State about losing in the first round to the Clippers as a 6 seed.

Manu does a little bit of everything.
Don't just look at his raw offensive numbers. With the emergence of K-Leonard, Manu was option #4.....and now option #5 behind Aldridge.

He is still a great defender. He might not be the lock down elite defender of his young self, but he is still good.
I still think he is one of the topdefensive guards in the league with more of a craftiness hidden style.

Offensively, He can play backup PG if needed. he can shoot the 3-ball. He can get to the rim. He hits free-throws.

Intangibly, He is the clubhouse vocal leader and assistant coach of sorts.

He definitely has value more than just taking up a bench spot.
Leadership and defense alone are worth whatever minimum type deal he signs.

He'll also mix in a few of those "Manu games" where he just throwing crazy shots at the hoop and everything goes in. They'll happen just about the time the Spurs need them too.

Who here thinks Rondo and Cousins can coexist? I'm guessing there might be some fisticuffs between the two in a few practices. Karl has his work cut out for him after alienating cousins already.

Rondo get in team mates faces if they don't defend. Cousins acts like a little bitch when that happens and he doesn't defend well. I see their personalities clashing a ton in Sacramento. Rondo will get on Cousins case and cousins won't like it.

I find it funny that the Lakers front office was praised for making the Russell pick, as far as the "getting with the current times" narrative anyway. They strike out on some free agents and all of a sudden the narrative is back to being the front office being dinosaurs.

Russell looked smooth in the practice videos from today. Randle and Clarkson had high praise for him.

Hibbert is low risk/high reward.

If he rebounds, great.

If not, he's off the books next Summer.

No. Hibbert is a good defender and rebounder, that's all they will want from him. Scoring is a bonus. I'm sure they'll have Kareem work with him.
