please explain to me how those signings make sense for the Lakers....

Those signings do nothing but take them from being a team that wins low twenties to a team that wins high twenties which hugely decreases the chances they keep their draft pick which is top 3 protected- while not getting them even CLOSE to the playoffs.

I just dont see how those signings help the Lakers going forward other than to win a couple extra games this season.

Again- if you would like to explain to me how those signings were intelligent- go ahead- so far you have said nothing.

Sometimes you have to build the roster up a bit before a Star player will consider you.

I think we all have come to realize that Market matters less these days.

The Lure of Hollywood has taken a huge hit in Free Agency.

Anyone who doesn't believe that can simply look at Aldride, Love, DeAndre Jordan and Monroe.

All of these guys told the LA Teams to go fuck themselves and took deals in smaller Markets.

There is a reason that Aldridge gave the Suns a second look as opposed to the Lakers and Knicks.

I just dont see how it helps them winning an extra hand full of games by tying their money into after-thought role players.

The worst place to be in the NBA is the middle- ESPECIALLY when that means you are going to have to forfeit your draft pick.

The best thing to come out of the Lakers missing out on the major free agents in my onion was the fact that they could possibly keep their pick.

Now?

They win an extra hand full of games and lose their pick but still come no where close to making the playoffs- and still did not sign a player who would be expected to start on a contender.

They eventually lose the pick anyway, whether in 2016 or 2017.

Im sorry.

in my opinion the Lakers would have been better served getting another high lotto pick and saving that 10M to pitch up to 3 guys max offers.

I mena- what looks better- another top 3 pick on the roster and 10M in cap space- or no draft pick and Lou Williams and Brandon Bass? to me its a no brainer-
especially because I hate the Williams fit with Russell there and Kobe there. I liked the Lakers offseason better before they settled on throwing cash at guys who cant start for contenders.....but we shall see going forward.

No prime time free agents are going to LA because of Hibbert, Lou Williams, and Brandon Bass. I doubt anyone from those signings is on the team when LA is good again. Lou Williams is the only one that has a chance in my opinion.

It really isn't that hard, My Friend.

Greg Monroe is the perfect example.

He choose to go to the bucks and play with young talent over going to the Lakers and Knicks with shit rosters.

You have to have something to offer.

Guys don't want to carry the load alone anymore.

The Suns are a middle of the road Team that likely won't make the playoffs again.

But, the got Tyson to go along with their youth and Aldridge actually gave them a look.

You have to have a foundation.

Bron doesn't come back to the Cavs without Kyrie.

Love doesn't come w/out Lebron.

Baby steps...build it brick by brick.

No prime Free Agents were coming period.

Hibbert is low risk/high reward.

If he rebounds, great.

If not, he's off the books next Summer.

Should they have just rolled with Jordan hill again?

Nope. If anything it will be the youth that attracts others. That's why they need to be the ones playing.

The Lakers were lucky to get the number two pick this draft. It's hard to get that kind of draft lotto luck, unless you're the Cavs. It's about the future, and showing that your organization has promise and direction is a better selling point then being consistently at the bottom. I can't fault the Lakers for trying to be competitive, not everyone wants to be the Cavs and remain at the bottom year after year to stock pile draft picks that leads Lebron to come back home.

As far as them being smart - Lou Williams is a dynamic scorer and is perfect off the bench. He fits the same mold as a Jamal Crawford or Manu Ginobli. For $7 mil per, this isn't a bad signing by any stretch of the imagination, especially when the salary cap goes up. Shit, your pathetic excuse of a franchise is offering $80+ million for a PF who can only rebound, and has all but offered its dignity to Lebron. Brandon Bass is a solid PF who adds depth to your front court. You need depth in this league, something I thought you'd understand given how the Finals went.

Agree with everything. But I *think* Aldridge did give the Lakers a 2nd meeting.

I think they only did that to make up for the negative leaks. It's not the last time that his agent/management group will deal with the Lakers.

good point man- when they win 30 games instead of 21 games and end up with the 4th or 5th or 6th pick in the lotto and have to give it up- you can always hang your hat on those extra 9 wins that those signings gave you

TOTALLY WORTH IT. Finishing 11th or 12th last in the West instead of last . Im sure fans would MUCH rather finish 11th or 12th in the West and give up a top 3 pick- then hvae an extra 10M in cap room and the 3rd pick.....but hey- you are totally right- its what they pay you the big bucks for

Giannis, Middleton and Parker attracted Monroe- not John Henson and ZaZa

Kyrie and the #1 overall pick to get Love attracted LeBron- not Spencer Hawes and Dion Waiters

West opt out of 12 mill to sign a 1.5 mill contract. Talking about making the wrong choice. Yes he has a better shot at winning but overall bad money decision.
