These salaries are beyond ANY logic. Shumpert for $10 million? Seriously. Old rich White guys getting a stiffy throwing gobs of money at people whose basketball services don't even remotely value what these "players" are fetching. Unfreakinbelievable!

Aren't Lebron and Varejao really good friends too? Seems like I heard that.
yah...LeBron loves Varejao.

2 years 20 million is not bad even with his injury history and he provides depth.- we saw what happened last year- i mean, its kinda bad luck that 2 of their 4 good bigs were hurt- especially the 2 that ould shoot...

These PFs that play offense dont want to play center- they want to play with a defensive center.

Varajeo and Love can spread the floor. Varajeo has a good mid-range and Mozgov can hit it. TT is really the only one that clogs the lane. The need a couple more shooters to help spread the floor more.

8-10 ft isn't really spreading the floor.
I'm sure opponents would be thrilled to be playing the Cavs and watching Verajeo or Mozgov launching shots from any further.

I guess you didnt watch the Cavs much, I dont blame you. Varajeo has a really good mid-range, it's underrated. Mozgov's needs some work, but he still can spread the floor some.

They def are close.
James won't allow him to be traded.
James actually felt bad about leaving Andy and Z the most when he came to Miami.

Yeah, I thought so. Seems Varejao for Lebron is like Pau was for Kobe. Every time the Lakers tried to trade Pau, Kobe always lobbied against it. I'm sure Lebron would do the same if he thought the Cavs were thinking about trading him.

I agree. Varejao is worth that deal even if all it does it keep Lebron happy. If he can actually get and stay healthy, it really becomes an even better deal. I've always liked Varejao.

DeMarre Carrol 15 million a year? Amir Johnson 12 M a year, Aminu 12M a year?

Shump is reasonale at 10...its all because the cap is going up from like 65 to like 100 in the next year or two....

I watch every Cavs game if it doesn't conflict with the Heat.
I just said that Andys shot has improved every season.
And, like I said, if your the opponent, you're thrilled if he's launching mid range shots.
It means the 'Big 3' aren't and it takes him away from the glass.

Same reasons why UD was never guarded on his same type range baseline shots.

If that's what beats you, you just tip you're cap and move on.

I can almost guarantee the cap will not be going up as high as the NBAPA thinks it will. There will be a lockout before that happens. Either the NBAPA agrees to cap smoothing or the owners will put the NBA on lock.

There is no sane justification for paying Shumpert 10 million or Thompson 20 million..

Even the most homerish Cavs fan would admit that is beyond insanely stupid.

That wont beat you everything else will. He is like an 8th option, but leave him open. He will hit it, you dont have to worry about that

Next lockout is going to get real nasty.

Problem is, damage is already done.
These owners can't back track on any current contract.

Only way to restore order might be by coming up with a system closer to the NFL's.

Age? That's about it. Shump at $10 isnt too bad bc he will start, most likely.

TT is rather high...btw it was $16. Still high but these two guys would have gotten that for other teams...somewhere. They are young and have potential. TT is the main one though, still not $16 mil worthy.

Who was paying TT 16 million to come off the bench? I would love to know.

Paying a bench player that is beyond stupid. Teams who would have paid him that would have him as their starting PF at least

I guess if he gets 65+ starts, it is not as bad.

But, it certainly is not a great deal if he is nothing more than a bench player.

So is he playing around the rim when he's on the court or is he standing there wide open in case no better shot comes along?

We're talking about having the court spread for James.

These owners and the NBA are getting dangerously close to killing the golden goose. We are approaching salaries that foster a substandard quality of basketball product that reaches the floor because any player now knows he can command x,y,or z because the salary cap is going up and he doesn't have to have skills that remotely reflect the salary he is going to command. Seriously? The days of the quality of the skills of the player and his ability to contribute to winning championships being the primary determinants of an increased value are rapidly declining and we are seeing this right now.
