What you saw was also not what the officials saw.

Who, you know, get paid to see what they see.

But, you guys clearly know more than the officials, so I'm surrounded by a bunch of former hockey experts. Should probably forward that resume to the Florida Panthers.

Well, there are a bunch of hockey experts and one dumbass.:suds:

Honestly, I'm from south Texas, so I'm no hockey expert. We think ice is something you use to keep your drink cool, not something you play games on. However, if you can't see that Wilson's hit was at the very least illegal and at the worst a deliberate head shot you are either blinded by your homerism or just blind.

No need to lump all you guys into one.

PS - I was just looking for scooby doo villain reveal and was amazed this was a gif.
PSS - I regret making opposing fan bases aware of this gif, but it's just too good.

Ya, gotta stop talking about the hit, it's just round and round in circles. To your questions:

- I think one game.
- A garbage can on skates, for consistency
- ... who?

Not gonna happen, but I'd love to see Spring take ZARs spot.
I think 2 games and a fine because of prior history. They have to factor the 3 suspension in the fall into this. If it was regular season, I'd expect 5 or 10 but it's the playoffs so it won't be that much.

It stinks that Pens fans didn't start watching hockey until 2005 because then they'd 'member...

The crazy long suspension that followed.

On Tom Wilson, Player Safety and avoiding suspension

I agree with the NHL's decision to not suspend him on a number of the hits shown listed in the article, but two alarming tendencies jump out to me:

1) Wilson has a habit of targeting players with hard hits who are already engaged with other players and unable to avoid/protect themselves from the hits.
2) He doesn't hesitate at all when he sees the numbers.

Whether suspended or not, a lot of those hits are ugly and have ugly consequences. At some point, when evidence mounts, you certainly have to at least start to wonder about intention.

Everyone.
Jumping.
Bridges.

But if I'm having a discussion about fandom, I want to have it with a Penguins fan who lives in Ottawa.

Please, tell me your favorite Penguins tales since 2005.

Plenty. Three cups, knocking the Caps out every time.

Do you want me to list my tales from the 90s too? The Caps figure into lots of those fond memories, too.

No, I'd rather discuss the Chicago Bulls and New York Yankees with you.

-Yeah, I agree two games because of prior history.
-Torts has often not changed up the middle lines and promoted someone else to first line. Vrana wouldn't surprise me, but I think DSP is more likely.

I preferred Kasparaitus on Lindros myself. And loved Scott Stevens.

Views can change. I think you'll find a number of posters here would agree, regardless of fanbase.

I don't know if you ever browse HF, but that's the theme for Caps avatars. I thought it was hilarious, for a while...

If our opinions do not change in the face of new information, we're in the wrong. We learned more about head injuries, and we had to stop accepting--much less glorifying--the hits which cause them.

Dacks and Dark.... I agree with you all on suspension worthy, because I think principal is the key word.

But would you guys also agree (as to intent) that Wilson did lower/bend his body down to whatever the dudes name is and had his arm/elbow tucked. I'm not going to defend Wilson's reckless behavior, I just think calling him trash or garbage is a bit much as he isn't displaying some of those telltale signs that he's TRYING to hurt a guy, as opposed to delivering big hits and certainly dancing all around the line.

He has a history of making actively dangerous hits that are barely within the rules, if at all. He has no regard to the safety of other players. He's raised his shoulder twice to contact the head in back-to-back games, and he was running around leaving his feet on checks he just missed on all night. You can explain away an event here and there. He does this sort of thing a lot.

He's an actively dangerous player. He's an intentionally dangerous player. He's a player the league needs to deal with.

If he's not on the Matt Cooke, Raffi Torres level yet, he's getting awfully close.

High standards I see...

The screen name you chose literally has douche in it.

And yeah, this board has an impressive core of highly intelligent and very hockey literate fans who have good discussions. Many of us have been talking for 10-15 years now.

If you disagree, nobody is making you join in.

/Oh, and when you have two different hockey teams in your avatar, maybe not best to go the "insult their fandom" route. No team outside of the Caps would EVER FUCKING BE in my avatar unless I lost a bet.
