Not saying you are wrong, but IMO this take, if it's what the spirit of the rule is becoming, is bad.

A larger object making contact with a smaller object is naturally going to have an "overpowering" factor towards it and have dispersed impact to other areas. In this case, if Wilson's shoulder hit ZAR's shoulder as the first point of contact, that's on ZAR for not being a big guy. Shoulder to Shoulder checks are legal. You'll literally have to create a rule saying big guys can't hit little guys. There will need to be weight classes for what's allowed and what's illegal.

And yet, nobody feels the need to factor in relative height when discussing high sticks or cross checks to the face. How weird. Almost like it shouldn't matter.

Here's a good shot of the "principal" point of contact. I'm having trouble seeing this as a shoulder to shoulder hit, unless "grazing contact" counts.

Oops, forgot link:

I don't see anything. Maybe it's my computer?

A comparison of an attached body part has just been made to a stand-alone object that is carried.

What a time to be alive.

Presumably, the attached body part should be easier to control, since the player spends the whole of his life with it.

Controlled it pretty well.

Even though he's 4 inches taller, he was able to put his shoulder on a shorter person's shoulder.

His crime is being 40 lbs heavier and 4 inches taller than tbe player whose shoulder he hit.

Claiming taller players should be allowed to injure other players just because they are taller is one of the dumbest statements I've ever heard, so kudos.

Is ZAR's shoulder visible in this picture? Is it level with where Wilson's shoulder would be, but Wilson's shoulder is obviously covered by ZAR's shoulder in this picture because...their shoulders are colliding.

And ZAR's jaw is broken because he's a much smaller human being than Wilson. Wilson being a larger human being drove through ZAR's shoulder and made head contact.

So...punish Wilson for ZAR being a smaller/weaker player? Don't hit small guys in a contact sport? I guess we should give smaller players red shirts to wear over their jerseys...

I really have to congratulate you. You are the biggest homer on this thread if not the entire Hoop. You have definitely used every ounce of BS you could find and used every lame excuse possible to tell everyone that what we saw was not what we saw.

I thought the hit in game 2 was a deliberate head shot but could maybe see it as unintentional. Now it has happened in back to back games. This time it is even more obvious.

History and facts say Wilson is dirty, but you keep defending him and looking like a fool.

Once in an accident, twice is a coincidence, 3 times is a pattern. WTF is 5 times?

And again, this shot points out that Aston-Reese both rose and turned away from the hit, moving his head farther away from Wilson, and Wilson still hit him principally in the jaw. Aston-Reese's last-moment movement would have, if unreacted to, reduced head contact if Wilson was actually sighting the shoulder with his hit. He wasn't, he went for the head.

At least this time, Aston-Reese could see the hit coming. The previous two instances, Wilson ran a player who was engaged with and focused on another player, so they had no chance to defend themselves. Of course, here, Aston-Reese attempted to protect his head and was unsuccessful, so...

He glanced the shoulder. The very top of the shoulder. And if you think it's difficult to hit a guy who's four inches shorter below the tops of the shoulders, you have a very low threshold of being impressed.

Sounds good.

You made a comparison of stick infractions to body contact, which is next level mental judo. So, kudos.

Shifting the chatter a little since we've gone round on this plenty...

-Regardless of how you feel about the hit, what do you think Wilson will actually get?
-If Wilson is suspended, who joins OV and Kuzy on the top line?
-And finally, would this mean we finally get to see Shane Gersich in a playoff game?

Ya, gotta stop talking about the hit, it's just round and round in circles. To your questions:

- I think one game.
- A garbage can on skates, for consistency
- ... who?

Not gonna happen, but I'd love to see Spring take ZARs spot.

What you saw was also not what the officials saw.

Who, you know, get paid to see what they see.

But, you guys clearly know more than the officials, so I'm surrounded by a bunch of former hockey experts. Should probably forward that resume to the Florida Panthers.

It's almost like I compared penalties that result in head injuries. What craziness!

If you're using NHL officials as your standard of legality, you're using a pretty bad standard. I don't think there's a hockey fan in the world who actually thinks officials are consistently good at seeing illegal plays.

So, you compared the end result instead of the action itself. Another stellar display of intellect in this discussion.

Lol you know you've outed yourself as a hockey fan imposter when you think an on ice call by NHL refs is the best indicator of the right call. The one thing almost universally agreed upon is that they suck.

That's not a very good principle - if you point a gun at somebody and fire off a round, irregardless of intent, the action of firing off the gun is immaterial. The result is what matters - did you kill them, did you shoot them below the knees so no attempted murder etc.

Everyone.
Jumping.
Bridges.

But if I'm having a discussion about fandom, I want to have it with a Penguins fan who lives in Ottawa.

Please, tell me your favorite Penguins tales since 2005.
