Zach Greinke has 10 scoreless starts to lead the majors. Guess who is 2nd? It is Gallardo with 9. I know he does not make it out of the 6th much of the time but he is pitching in a different league and has had to reinvent himself with his decreased velocity. At least he gives us a chance to win.

I don't get the lost velocity thing, maybe from his peak early years sure, but the last four years his fastball ball has average 91.7. 90.7, 91.3 and 90.6 and the highest it ever got was 92.6 and even in his first season it was only 91.6

I had just heard that he had to rely more on location than just overpowering hitters. I know his k/9 has gone down from where it was in the 9's to 7.2 in 2013, 6.8 2014 and now 5.7. So was not sure if velocity had dropped even more or he was pitching to contact more. The funny thing is that most who pitch their entire careers in the NL and come to the AL their ERA goes up. But his is the lowest it has ever been at 3.16.

An MRI on Albert Pujols' right foot revealed the Angels slugger has inflammation. There's no word on his return.

he's changed how he approaches hitters, but not because of loss of velocity

The other falsehood is he just recently started getting groundballs and was a fly ball pitcher in Milwaukee, Busby says this all the time, but this was a widely held thought by many people as well, his GB% was actually higher last year and has been 45% or higher 6 of the last 7 years

Unless something has changed, I read earlier that Banister is sticking to his rotation alignment meaning Hamels will not pitch in any of the 7 games vs. Houston which is just flabbergasting.

I really shouldn't be surprised though since he pitched Lewis on the road against the Angels. It turned out it didn't matter because of the shutout but wasn't Banister suppose to be the guy that knew all the Sabermetrics?

Sciosia had his 3 best and most experienced pitchers going in that series with the Rangers. That was not by chance. Sciosia plans series ahead of time on pitching match-ups.

So it looks like Banister is going to just put it on auto pilot and see what happens.

That is ridiculous. I mentioned earlier about getting Colby an extra day of rest and pushing Hamels which would allow him to pitch in both series. There's no reason not to.

I predict Gallo has a good night.

That's quite a small limb you're walking out on.

Hope you're right but I've seen nothing which evokes positiveness.

With the way Walker has been pitching and the way we have been hitting Hamels will really have to be on his game.
