Looks like DeShields has hit about .220 since the beginning of August so if his replacement can do better than that it might actually help the offense. Maybe a few days off is what Delino needs anyway.

He is a catalyst though when he gets on but you are right he has not looked good at the plate and has also made some bad decisions in the OF. But would prefer to still have him in the lineup. If he is out maybe it is just a short time and he will be back for the stretch drive.

I might roll with this lineup.

Odor
Choo
Beltre
Fielder
Mitch/Napoli
Andrus
Rua
Veneble
Catcher

Yes I hope Rua gets the callup. I really do not think mild strain is a definitive diagnosis. Hard to tell how much time he will be out. Reported he was walking ok after game. No mention of swelling

I was thinking how this might change the lineup. I wasn't sure I wanted to move Odor to leadoff but not opposed to it. Do you play Straus against a lefty or Stubbs? I like speed so might go with Straussy.

Fuck it. Let Veneble to both.

Zach Greinke has 10 scoreless starts to lead the majors. Guess who is 2nd? It is Gallardo with 9. I know he does not make it out of the 6th much of the time but he is pitching in a different league and has had to reinvent himself with his decreased velocity. At least he gives us a chance to win.

I really liked what I saw from Faulkner last night. Against 5 batters he threw 1st pitch strikes to all 5, had 15 of this 20 pitches strikes and struck out 3 of the 5 batters. Cannot stand for a relief pitcher to come in and not throw strikes. We may have found some more help for the pen. I also can see the possibilities where LuJac could be good out of the pen as well.

Faulkner was an eye opener for sure. Was amazed at his first pitch control.

Just saw this and thought it interesting.

Texas (72-64) has gone 25-12 since July 29, two days before it acquired Hamels (2-1, 3.89 ERA) from Philadelphia.

Chi Chi has been pitching well in the minors. Bacsik says he would push Colby back a day, and give Chi Chi the ball for 1 start. Colby has pitched well in his career on an extra day of rest. It also allows Hamels to pitch in the HOU series. I believe Chi Chi was scheduled to start last night in AAA, and didn't.

Seems like a no brainer to me. I guess Nick Martinez is an option, but wouldn't be my choice.

I believe Chi Chi is scheduled to pitch in the first game of the postseason for Round Rock. Both of those guys have done pretty well starting in AAA lately. I wouldn't have a problem with either one of them getting a spot start up here.

They're pretty much the same pitcher to me at this point
