And the Dodgers' owners are still profiting. They get some 250-300 annually from the TV contract alone.
Dodgers were 2nd at 403 mil total revenue yanks 1st at 508 and Astros last at 175

I would guess it was more that 10 or 20% additional. If he bought the shares only 3 years ago, that would not be a great return on his principle (I understand he/she/they made additional $$ through sharing and/or dividends and/or salaries attached to the ownership stake). And the Dodgers' owners are still profiting. Some Koreans were trying to buy one of the new minority owners' shares, I think it was like 20%, and the Dodgers guy was asking for like 10 or 20% on top of what he put in only less than 3 years ago. Foggy facts from memory, but google can confirm or deny if you need specifics.
Oh ok missed his idiotic statementThe Tigers have been fifth in spending each of the past three years, but you have a Tigers fan gripping about the amount another team is spending. One of his statements was that the Dodgers have spent more in the last three years than the Royals will spend in the next decade. I was using facts to show that his argument was false.
3 years ago dodgers were valued at 1.4 billion today its 2.4 pretty good increase in 3 yearsI would guess it was more that 10 or 20% additional. Right. So why would he sell it for only 10% more than what he paid for it if it has increased in value by approx 75%?3 years ago dodgers were valued at 1.4 billion today its 2.4 pretty good increase in 3 years
He didn't.Right. So why would he sell it for only 10% more than what he paid for it if it has increased in value by approx 75%?
The Times article said that The Korea Joongang Daily, one of two South Korean newspapers that first reported the talks, reported the investment group hoped to buy 20% of the Dodgers for about $370 million, which would value the Dodgers at $1.85 billion. The Times article also said that one of the partners in the team, Todd Boehly, told the Times in December 2012 that Guggenheim Baseball valued the Dodgers at $3 billion.
He didn't do it.
I wasnt trying to pick nits. just extrapolating the numbers, and suggesting that a 20% increase on the sale would have been a bad asking price. He didn't.
Instead of nitpicking my foggy facts, why not, ya know, google it?
Potential Sale Of Stake In Los Angeles Dodgers To South Koreans Values Team at $3 Billion
Reminder, Guggenheim Baseball is the current ownership of the Dodgers, so ~370mil isn't even close to what they'd demand for 20%.
If you read the articles, they (the South Korean investors) were trying to come up with 400M, which would've been 20% of the 2 billion the team paid. This was also almost a year ago and that Forbes link where it says Guggenheim valued their Dodgers at 3 billion is from March.I wasnt trying to pick nits. just extrapolating the numbers, and suggesting that a 20% increase on the sale would have been a bad asking price.
If the Korean group did, in fact, make that offer, it was an insulting offer.
I hope the Dodgers sign Cueto after Greinke leaves for the Giants.. Dodgers fans are such pieces of shit they deserve to watch Cueto's arm fall off next year. What a god awful fan base... You guys have spent more in the last 3 years on salary than the Royals will in the next decade... and you still can't get to a WS.
We are getting Kenta Maeda
Less than half a season versus 5 years of being a top of the league pitcher in a hitters' park. Not that hard to put this one together.Zim getting this while Cueto turns down 120m after getting destroyed in the AL seems backwards to me.
