that's the water-slide place?
I'll need a full report when you get back. My kid is getting peer pressured to go there.

For a two night stay at Great Wolf Lodge (this includes water park access for the day you arrive) it's a $600 tab for a family suite. There is a buffet restaurant at the Lodge, but I think it's pretty pricey for what you get.

Puck: C'mon, take me to Great Wolf Lodge! You know I love waterslides. Please, please, please can we go?
Lil' Puck: I only have like $12 in my piggy bank, dad.

more like:

lil pucker's classmates: we went to this waterpark for spring break and it was awesome, and it was the best thing ever and oh my gawd. what did you do?
lil pucker: well, I helped my dad weed the garden. and we went swimming on Friday because it's cheaper that day.

later.... "Dad, what's Great Wolf Lodge?" :violin:

is that family of 4? whole family allowed 2 days in waterpark? buffet included?

/my vacation plans include more kelowna (July 29 :eyebrows:)

your trip is intriguing dash ... never really looked into a destination in that direction so :thumb: to you for the info

my wife wants to rent an rv and do some kinda road trip with her childless sister (+ her husband) and my childless brother (+ his girlfriend) ... probably a bad idea since with that motley crew of alcoholics we might all come back home childless

That's for a family of four (full water park access), but the buffet restaurant is not included (and they don't have Vegas-style buffet prices either). If your kid(s) like water parks though (and mine do), it's a fun time. Also, I'm visiting family in Renton as well on this trip.

As 43 mentioned, it's beautiful around Coeur d'Alene, camping, hiking trails, plenty of scenery etc. As you travel north on highway 93, you hit the Silverwood amusement park which also has an outdoor water park now. And if you want continue north on 93 a little ways, you hit Lake Pend Oreille which is great for fishing, boating, camping etc (largest town is Sandpoint which is close to the Schweitzer ski area).

/I really love northern Idaho

For his summer vacation, Eloco is going nowhere. I was a contract employee for more than a year and finally got a full-time gig. So I believe I have 2 vacation days accumulated at this point.

On the plus side, after a long, tough stretch, Eloco has a legit job he likes and WILL have summer vacation NEXT summer! :cheer: And more importantly, winter vacation for skiing in Colorado. Me and Comeds' butler (he's a cool guy) are planning a trip as we speak.

Comeds finally hired the GenderBender from Casa Mia's?

Awesome.

You'll love CO. I did Vail and Beaver Creek this past Spring. It's a can't miss vacation. It's nice that the lift tickets work for everything in the area (except Copperhead).

Oh I love it out there! Have friends in Boulder and Denver so we go out there most years, meet up with them, and head for the hills. Vail is amazing - both the town and the skiing. Also have been to Keystone, Breck, and Copper. Heading to either Vail or Steamboat this winter. If we're in Vail, might have to hop over to the Beav for the first time. Did you like Vail or Beaver Creek better? Oh, and when did you go? We've talked about doing an April trip b/c we could rent a small castle on the cheap, but not sure about how the skiing is that time of year. I'm not picky about snow (i'm from the mid-Atlantic), but some of my Colorado friends have become snow condition pre-Madonnas since moving out there.

Was this an intended typo, because if so, it's pretty durn funny...

To me, Vail is always better. Nothing I've skied has been able to touch the back bowls. It was my first time hitting Beaver since we usually just stay in Vail for the whole week (8 trips). It's fun for a day, but not on the same level.

This year we went in the first week of April. It was definitely the weakest I had ever seen it. Back bowls were closed, along with about 25% of the rest of the mountain. That's why we tried Beaver. I was assured that wasn't usually the case, but it can be risky.

I feel like the level of grammar I generally exhibit answers that question. Even if not, the capitalization should be a pretty good clue. ;)

Congrats on losing your virginity! And yes, it can be risky, so I hope you were safe. :L

Thanks for the info, DC. Back bowls being closed is a big loss. The sheer size of Vail does make it pretty amazing. You feel like you must have crossed over to another resort at some point. As long as there is a hot tub at the end of the day, I'm sure I'd enjoy either mountain.

Columbus is a little out of the way, taking the family down to Washington state first and then over to Idaho (another Clark W. Griswald family vacation).
Great Wolf Lodge first and then Silverwood in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

I went to Silverwood last year for the first time in almost 5 years. Wow, had it changed.
