Robinson told AL.com he felt the coaching staff was unfairly harsh with him after showing leniency with wayward wideout Duke Williams a year ago. (Williams was eventually dismissed, too.)
“Everything about (the) Auburn coaching staff is not what it seems,” Robinson told the site. “Just because I don’t walk around with (a) fake smile, they feel like they (can) say or try to force anything.
“I was stereotyped and disrespected. The football players are not happy with this.”
“We felt like it was the right decision to make once separation occurred,” head coach Sonny Dykes said in a statement. “Davis’ maturity and knowledge of what we’re trying to do put him a little bit ahead of our other quarterbacks. He’s new to our program but he came in with three seasons of experience at Texas Tech running this style of offense. Earlier Thursday, UTEP announced that it had added Kent Taylor to its roster as a graduate transfer from Kansas. As Taylor comes in as a graduate, he will be eligible to play immediately in 2016, his final season of eligibility.

Louisville cornerback Cornelius Sturghill was the victim of a drive-by shooting while home in Memphis this summer and will miss the season while focusing on recovery, Cardinals head coach Bobby Petrino revealed Saturday. Sturghill was shot in the foot.

The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal notes that defensive end Kaleb Hill has been added to Tech’s 105-man preseason roster. Hill, who earlier this year decided to transfer from Boise State, will be joining his brother, Kolin Hill, a former Notre Dame defensive lineman who transferred to Tech last year.
Kaleb Hill will have to sit out the 2016 season, but will have two years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2017.

According to The Oklahoman, Blankenship has enrolled at Oklahoma and will continue his collegiate playing career with the Sooners. Overnight, reports were making the rounds that starting lineman Christian LaCouture (pictured, left) had sustained a major/significant injury to his knee. Additionally, backup end Isaiah Washington sustained a knee injury as well, although it was thought that it might not be as severe as LaCouture’s.
While there’s nothing official from the school, it appears it was as the Baton Rouge Advocate and New Orleans Times-Picayune have confirmed through sources that both players will be sidelined for the entire 2016 season. LaCouture reportedly sustained a torn ACL, while Washington’s injury has been described as “serious ligament damage.”
On Texas Tech’s updated roster for the start of summer camp, Sykes is listed as a sophomore defensive back for the Red Raiders. A Tech official confirmed that Sykes will be joining the program as a walk-on initially.
