The Tar Heels have put some transfer restrictions on Williams, including blocking him from going to another school on scholarship that will play them in the next four years. USC and North Carolina will meet in 2019, but that’s not going to prevent Williams from joining the Gamecocks if he’s accepted by the school.
“I’m going to use the GI Bill to pay for my first year,” Williams said, noting his mother was just recently promoted to the rank of major by the Army. So, if he’s accepted to school, his plan is to walk on the football team and redshirt in 2016 with the hopes of going on scholarship for 2017.
According to multiple media outlets, Dallis Todd has decided to leave OU and transfer to an undetermined elsewhere. No reason has been given for the receiver’s decision, although an opportunity for more playing time might be a good place to start.
On Twitter Tuesday, Sherrod announced that he has instead decided to transfer to Michigan State. It should be noted that MSU has yet to announce Sherrod’s addition to the roster.
As Sherrod will be jumping up a level and coming to MSU as a grad transfer, the defensive end will be eligible to play immediately in 2016. This upcoming season will be his final year of eligibility.
On the first day of this month, it was reported that 2016 Baylor signee Brandon Bowenhad been granted a release from his National Letter of Intent. Less than a week later, Bowen has decided to begin his collegiate playing career at TCU.
On his personal Twitter account late this past week, Merritt announced that he is “excited and proud to announce that I will be a student athlete at Texas A&M University.” Merritt had announced June 21 that he would be transferring from Oregon because of what he described as unspecified “family situations back home” in Louisiana.
UVa. announced in a press release that offensive linemen Sadiq Olanrewaju and Eric Tetlow have decided to retire from the game of football due to injuries. The players will remain in school on medical scholarships.
According to The Oregonian, running back Damien Haskins and offensive linemanLeo Fuimaono are taking medical retirements and will not play football for Oregon State moving forward. The newspaper notes that while neither was expected to be a starter in 2016, both were expected to be contributors this coming season.
As the SEC Media Days opened up Monday, Deontay Evans‘ name was not listed on MSU’s official roster made available at the event. Subsequent to that, a school spokesperson confirmed that Evans (pictured, making tackle) will be transferring out of Dan Mullen‘s football program.

In an interview with the Virginian-Pilot, Marriner confirmed that he has decided to enroll at Old Dominion and play for the Monarchs. Marriner won’t have to look far for a familiar face as his brother, Brandon Addison, plays cornerback for ODU, while his former position coach with the Huskies, Kermit Buggs, is an assistant on the ODU staff.
