Tennessee WR Vincent Perry academically ineligible for 2016

Vols head coach Butch Jones confirmed to GoVols247 Perry will miss the upcoming season after being ruled academically ineligible to play.

A three-star signee out of Nashville, Perry will forfeit his scholarship as part of his academic ineligibility, but will remain in school and with the team as a walk-on.

The latest to be hit with attrition via a transfer is Virginia Tech, with the Hokies confirming speculation that Carson Lydon is no longer with the team and intends to transfer to an undetermined location. No reason was given for the linebacker parting ways with the program.

Early Friday afternoon, UM announced that Young has been indefinitely suspended from the football program. The only stated reason was the vague “violation of department rules.”

Transferring Tulsa DB J.R. Reed making Georgia his new home

While nothing has been confirmed, Dawgs247.com is reporting that safety J.R. Reedhas decided to transfer into first-year head coach Kirby Smart‘s program. Reed comes to Athens by way of Tulsa, where he spent his true freshman season in 2015.

On Twitter Monday, Mitch revealed that he will continue his collegiate playing career at James Madison. As the Dukes play at the FCS level, and Mitch himself is a recent graduate of USC, the quarterback will be eligible to play immediately in 2016.

Penn State, Auburn agree to home-and-home series in 2021, 2022

Penn State and Auburn announced Monday morning a home-and-home series to take place in 2021 and 2022. The first game will be played in State College on Sept. 18, 2021 and the return will take place at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Sept. 17, 2022.

Justin Thomas-Thornton tweets decision to transfer from Auburn

In a tweet posted to his personal Twitter account Sunday, Justin Thomas-Thornton revealed that he will be “pursuing my collegiate football and academic endeavors elsewhere.” The defensive lineman gave no reason for his decision to leave The Plains.

In mid-May, wide receiver Ryan Sousa announced via Twitter that he had decided totransfer out of the Florida football program, and ultimately landed at FCS Southern Illinois. A little over six weeks later, a fellow Gator receiver has apparently made a similar decision, with Scout.com reporting that Alvin Bailey will leave Jim McElwain‘s squad.

Baylor’s Chris Johnson reportedly transferring to Houston

According to a report from Rivals.com affiliate SicEmSports, Chris Johnson has decided to leave Baylor and transfer into the Houston football program. The same website is reporting that the Bears gave the erstwhile quarterback a release from his scholarship.

New Mexico State’s leading receiver joins Maryland as grad transfer

Maryland announced in a press release that Morgan, a native of Hanover, Maryland, has transferred to the university and will continue his collegiate playing career with the Terps. As Morgan is coming to College Park as a graduate transfer, he will be eligible to play immediately in 2016.
