Nebraska C Paul Thurston transferring to Colorado State

According to a report from 247Sports.com earlier in the day, the family of Paul Thurston has informed the recruiting website that the center has decided to transfer to the Rams. CSU subsequently confirmed Thurston’s addition to the Rams’ roster in a press release.

No reason was given for his departure from the Cornhuskers.

Facebook post indicates Tyrell Lyons’s intent to transfer from FSU

On his Facebook page Wednesday afternoon, Tyrell Lyons revealed that he has decided to transfer from the Seminoles and continue his collegiate playing career elsewhere. The linebacker gave no reason for his decision to leave Tallahassee.

Derick Roberson, Texas’ highest-rated 2014 signee, decides to transfer from Longhorns

InsideTexas.com was the first to report that Derick Roberson has decided to transfer out of the Texas football program. A UT spokesperson subsequently confirmed that the defensive end had decided to leave Charlie Strong‘s team.

According to HornSports.com, Roberson is likely headed to Sam Houston State of the FCS.

Report: QB Davis Webb spurns Colorado, opts for Cal

While nothing is official from any school, reports began surfacing earlier in the day Wednesday that Webb has decided to instead take his talents to Cal. The player himself subsequently confirmed to FOXSports.com‘s Bruce Feldman that the Golden Bears are his new destination.

Webb, who also considered Auburn after committing to Colorado, would be eligible to play immediately in 2016, his final season of eligibility.

Pitt Flips Script With Return Of 'Script' Logo - Today's U

The “script” – spelling out “Pitt” – logo is beloved by fans and was the school’s primary athletic mark from 1973-1996. The script logo was introduced by former football coach Johnny Majors.

“We are excited to make the full transition back to the script logo,” athletic director Scott Barnes said in a statement. “Not only will this move help unify our branding efforts, it also gives us an opportunity to celebrate the amazing history of Pitt Athletics. Wednesday’s event will give Panther fans an opportunity to see some impressive Pitt apparel as well as some of the other exciting improvements we currently have underway.”

In addition to the new logo, updated uniforms for the school’s 19 varsity sports will be unveiled at a public “fashion show” in the Petersen Events Center lobby. The new uniforms will display the script logo.

Connor Mitch opts to transfer from South Carolina

USC announced in a press release Friday that Mitch has decided to transfer out of the Gamecocks football program. Mitch’s decision came following a conversation with first-year head coach Will Muschamp earlier in the day.

Ex-LSU WR Trey Quinn transfers to SMU

According to 247Sports.com. Quinn has decided to enroll at SMU and continue his collegiate playing career with the Mustangs. The wide receiver subsequently confirmed his decision to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Texas CB transfer Bryson Echols finds new home at Arizona State

As he did when he announced his transfer from Texas, Echols took to Twitter late this past week to reveal Arizona State as his transfer destination. The cornerback will be coming to the Sun Devils as a graduate transfer, meaning, of course, that he will be eligible to play immediately in 2016.

Denied admission by UNC, 2016 signee James Pierre moves on to Syracuse

Friday, Syracuse announced that Pierre has signed with the Orange and officially added to the football team’s roster. The move comes a little over two weeks after reports surfaced that the defensive back was denied admission to UNC.

SMU lands another SEC transfer, this one a RB from Arkansas

This past week, it was reported that former LSU wide receiver Trey Quinn had moved on to SMU. Now, this weekend, Scout.com is reporting that former Arkansas running backDenzell Evans has also transferred into the SMU football program.

Per father, Deron Thompson transferring from Colorado State to Kansas

In March, Thompson opted to leave the Colorado State football program. According to the Lawrence Journal-World, Thompson’s father told KWCH-TV in Wichita that his son will be transferring to Kansas and using his remaining eligibility with the Jayhawks.

Utah DT Stevie Tu’ikolovatu transferring, reportedly visiting Nebraska over the weekend

According to a report from HuskerOnline.com, Stevie Tu’ikolovatu visited Lincoln over the weekend as he continues his search for a new football home. Tu’ikolovatu had decided very recently to transfer out of the Utah football program.

Social media post indicates ex-Miami FB Walter Tucker’s headed to FIU

On social media over the weekend, Walter Tucker, by way of Matt Porter of Palm Beach Post, has indicated that he will continue his collegiate playing career at FIU. That football program has not announced one way or the other the fullback’s connection to the football program.

OL Tyler Grimsley opts to transfer from Miami

In a press release, the Hurricanes announced that Grimsley has opted to transfer out of first-year head coach Mark Richt‘s football program. No reason was given for the offensive lineman’s decision to move on to another, unspecified program.

Ex-Ohio State lineman to continue career at Cincinnati

Citing university sources, the Cincinnati Enquirer is reporting that Schmidt will continue his collegiate playing career at Cincinnati. The offensive lineman had indicated earlier this month that the Bearcats would be his landing spot.

Because of NCAA transfer rules, Schmidt will be forced to sit out the 2016 season. He would then have three years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2017.

Washington promotes Jennifer Cohen to athletics director

When Scott Woodward left his post as Washington’s athletics director for the same job at Texas A&M in January, the Huskies promoted Jennifer Cohen to be the program’s interim AD.

Washington spent the next four months searching far and wide for Woodward’s replacement, and ended up finding her already sitting in Woodward’s old chair.

“I am very pleased to announce Jen’s appointment,” Washington president Ana Mari Cauce said in a statement. “She has all the skills and energy to provide exceptional leadership for Husky athletics. Her years of experience leading its fundraising program, along with her direct involvement overseeing football, provide a strong foundation for assuming overall leadership for the department. This is the right time for her, and I look forward to a very exciting time for our students, coaches and fans of Husky athletics.”

DB Davon Jacobs decides to transfer from Rutgers

Citing a person familiar with the situation, nj.com is reporting that senior defensive backDavon Jacobs has decided to transfer out of first-year head coach Chris Ash’s football program. The fact that Jacobs had fallen behind on the safety depth chart this spring is being pointed at as the reason for moving on.
