So their rookie year had to be in that decade, correct?

00's possible roster

PG Paul
SG Wade
SF Lebron
PF Durant
C Howard

PG Rose
SG/PG Harden
SF Melo
PF Bosh
C Yao

PF Griffin
PG Westbrook

I think there could be a better roster than that.

90's starting roster

PG Payton
SG Kobe
SF Pierce
PF Duncan
C Shaq

The 80's honestly looks the best.

PG Stockton
SG MJ
SF Barkley
PF Malone
C Hakeem

I debating 00's, 90's, or 80's. I guess backups would make a huge difference too.

Placing Howard as the starting center automatically moves that group to the back of the line. Honestly - this guy would get destroyed by any elite center from any era. Shaq, Wilt, Kareem, Akeem, etc would eat this guy alive.

I think either the '00s or '10s would win.

In reality, each generation of basketball players is better than the last. Moves and efficiency have improved from one generation to the next, nutrition is better, the athletes are finely tuned machines and the lure of $ is greater than ever, so only the very, very best make it.

Can you imagine Jerry West trying to score against Russell Westbrook? Has anybody seen footage of Jerry West's moves?

I found it hard to pick with the 80s 90s and 00s.

One thing is for sure, the '10s would get destroyed!

I like how the 90's has 2 members of the Jazz. :L

Take Stockton off and have Jordan/Pippen running the show.

As individual players in the 90s, both Malone and Stockton were FAR better than Pippen!

And you base that off of what? Hair length? Assists?

I'd take the Mailman or Kemp at PF in the 90's. But i'm gonna roll with who won 6 of the 10 championships in the 90s bud. You do realize Pipp won 8 - 1st team all defense awards right? Only 5 players in NBA history have more: Jordan, Kobe, the Glove, Duncan, KG. Pipp averaged 19-20 ppg, 6 boards, 6 assists, 2 steals a game during winning championships. Very key player for the Bulls and those 6 championships.

Or are one of those youngsters that thinks Jordan won it by himself or with Cartright, Grant, and Paxson?
:pound:

Stockton is all time steals leader but Jordan and Pipp are BOTH in the top 6 all-time!

You are correct to a certain degree. However - you neglect to point out that some of these guys are not as fundamentally sounds as elite players from the past due to a number of reasons.

Sure - perhaps the majority of players from the current era are probably better than the majority of players from the past. However - we are only talking about a handful of players in this case. Do you honestly believe that players such as Bird, Magic, Jordan, Wilt and Kareem could not compete and do very, very well in this era?

Like anybody who ever saw him play, my mind usually defaults to whichever team Jordan is on winning it all. But that is just a god awful team. Olajuwon, Malone, and Barkley all play right at the rim, and none could shoot much past 6 feet. Then John Stockton is a shitty 3 put shooter, and was a pass first guy anyways. Jordan would literally have to do everything himself. And I'm still not sure that isn't the best option anyways. Play Reggie Miller at the 3 over Barkley (who was a PF anyways) and I think it's hands down the team. Or give them Shaq over Olajuwon, since his best days were probably with Orlando in the 90's.

As it stands though, I'd probably have to vote for 00's.

So you're claiming Pippen deserves to be on a decades starting 5 team because he happened to be #2 on the Bulls championships team?

This is about individual players, and like I said earlier, both Malone and Stockton would get picked over Pippen pretty much all the time...

unless you're a nostalgic Bulls fan!

I suppose you're going to say Luc Longley is better than Pau Gasol too! :rolleyes2:

Take Stockton off and have Jordan/Pippen running the show.

Stockton was a true PG and Barkley is an overall better player than Pippen. But I guess he was more of a SF/PF type of player, in his younger days he was a legit SF though
