The Big 10 isn't as good as they came off this season...........Michigan State is getting destroyed right now by Alabama. Michigan is getting beat by a Mississippi State team that has the flu.

It will be interesting to see the Wisconsin/TCU game coming up. I personally think the Big 10 and Big 12 are about equal as far as difficulty. Nebraska just has a tough draw next season with having to play all of the top teams in the conference.

LOL @ having a losing season

I said "if" we have a losing season, but to be truly honest, unless something drastically changes, a losing season next year is pretty close to imminent.

NU lost 4 games this year with a very good veteran defense all across the board, but next year we lose a few key players on defense so our defense won't be as likely to hold up the fort when the offense stinks it up with Wats and ole Barn especially still here.

A true Husker fan doesn't laugh at prospects like these.

Penn State's doin a little better than I thought they might do. I was expecting a game that might go into overtime out of these two teams though...........Florida is just a shitty shitty team this year

I posted this thread last year after the bowl game debacle against Washington. Here is an update on what has happened this year and how much better we got.

This year so far we have 76 penalties for 630 yards. Last year we had 109 for 993.

Penalties on Offense:
17 1st down penalties 19 in 2010
16 2nd down 17 in 2010
5 3rd down 23 in 2010
3 4th down 5 in 2010

11 1st quarter penalties 17 in 2010
10 2nd quarter 18 in 2010
13 3rd quarter 15 in 2010
7 4th quarter 14 in 2010

15 false start penalties 22 in 2010
10 holding 12 in 2010
5 delay of game 4 in 2010
4 illegal pro/formation 4 in 2010
2 clipping 2 in 2010
1 Substitution 2 in 2010
1 pass interference 2 in 2010
1 Illegal down field
1 personal foul 11 in 2010
1 illegal touching

That is 41 Offensive penalties compared to the 64 we had on offense last year.

28 penalties of 9 yards or less 38 last year
10 penalties of 10 yards 11 last year
3 penalties of 11+ yards 15 last year

Penalties on defense:
12 1st down penalties 15 in 2010
3 2nd down 6 in 2010
10 3rd down 10 in 2010

6 1st quarter penalties 5 in 2010
3 2nd quarter 12 in 2010
8 3rd quarter 8 in 2010
8 4th quarter 6 in 2010

8 personal foul penalties 9 last year
7 Holding 5 last year
7 pass interference 12 last year
2 offsides 2 last year
1 Illegal substitution 3 last year

That is 25 penalties compared to the 31 last year on defense.

9 penalties of 9 yards or less 8 last year
5 penalties of 10 yards 5 last year
11 penalties of 11+ yards 18 last year

Last year we had 26 personal foul penalties. This year only 13.

GREAT job by the coaching staff this year in cutting back the penalties. Also by the players for having more discipline.

Yes, last year we had 45 fumbles and lost 16 with 8 INTs. This year we had 31 fumbles and lost 10 (4 by Abdullah alone) with 7 INTs.

Taylor also cut his fumbles down from 22 last year to 13 this year. He lost 5 fumbles this year and 0 this year.

The downside is that Taylor lead the country both last year and this year in fumbles.

I'm too fucking lazy to look, but I imagine the 3 games NU lost were where the penalties and turnovers reared their ugly head again?

Northwestern game we had 2 turnovers and 6 penalties for 41 yards. Don't know where in the drives the penalties came in but I seem to remember a drive killing turnover and penalties killing a drive.

edit: looked back and Birkhead fumbled at NU 5 yard line after drive from our 20, Enunwa catches a 25 yard pass and fumbles at NU 19 yard line. Drive started at NU 49.

If I remember proper, I think Wisconsin was chock full of both.

Those aren't real bad numbers. Particularly the penalties.

My memory comes back to me now. This game we made mistakes on O but got our act together. D could not hold them to let us catch up though. I felt the D quit in the fourth quarter on this game.

No and both fumbles were from excellent tackles where the ball was tucked away but got popped out.

Burkhead's on the 5 was a heart breaker.

P.S. Burkhead was coming off the 35 or whatever carries against MSU and was held under 70 this game too. Northwestern came to play and played a great game.

That was also the game where Northwestern supposedly studied and memorized our play signals and then looked to our sideline to get the calls........according to Taylor and Bo that is

nah they have done that to teams in the past. I'm pretty sure they were just pretending to know and looking over there to make them second guess themselves.

Friggin false start penalties are BS and signs of an O line without discipline.

I am curious as to where 15 of them stands among the top 25 teams in the

country.

Wisky was the game where Taylor thought he played for Wisky....

......he was making some excellent throws there.
