The White Sox have lost 20 in a row, the first such occurrence since the 1988 Baltimore Orioles. The modern record is currently held by the 1961 Philadelphia Phillies. If you want to go back before 1900, the 1889 Louisville Colonels lost 26 in a row.

The next 10 games for the White Sox?

3 @ Oakland
2 vs Cubs
3 vs Yankees
2 @ Houston

Can the White Sox make history?

are they really so awfully bad?any good players?

Not really. Bullpen sucks.

Rotation has a few promising pieces but the two worth a damn this year are now traded and the other on a 4 inning a start restriction.

Position players they are flat out awful. Robert is the only good player and he’s having a down year and hasn’t even played 60 games.

It’s truly a historically awful team

Grifol can not return to manage this team next year, he just can’t. The clubhouse culture has been terrible for awhile, and even though a lot of those veterans are gone, I think they need to start over at the major league level. They need an entire reset in the worst way.

And based on the early returns in the front office, I’m not sure Getz is the GM for the job either, but a meddling owner isn’t going to help this situation either.

I feel really bad for CWS fans.

Yeah I mean they need a full reset imo

Manager, GM and Owner.

Unfortunately that owner gonna have to croak to change roles.

My dad is a big one, he's pretty bummed out. Terrible ownership and small market (Cubs own it) it's a miracle they won in 2005

Sox tie the game at 1

A's immediately score 2 more.

The Pale Hose now have the 6th longest losing streak in history. Tied with the 1988 Orioles, famed for their 0-21 start to the season. In their sights

22 - 1890 Philadelphia Athletics (not those A's). 54-78 total, folded when the streak hit 22
23 - 1961 Philadelphia Phillies. Modern record. 47-107. Not the worst team ever on paper
23 - 1890 Pittsburgh Alleghenys. 23-113. .169 winning pct, worst of any team that played a whole season
24 - 1899 Cleveland Spiders. Yep, those Spiders. 20-134
26 - 1889 Louisville Colonels. 27-111. Oddly, the Colonels were 88-44 in 1890 and won the American Association

The 1875 Brooklyn Atlantics lost 31 straight in 1875 but the National Association isn't considered a major league

White Sox have 47 games left

If they somehow only go 4-43. They will finish 100 games under .500

Last I seen, they were on pace to lose 126 games. That was over the weekend. Disaster teams usually find a way to avoid matching the 1962 Mets. The A's were on pace last year and the Reds were in 2022. The 2003 Tigers were at 38-118 in the last week and went 5-1 to finish with 119 losses.

oakland surprisingly has a half decent offense

Yeah my thought was they might pull out a game vs Oakland Pitching

But being totally shut down by JP Sears is a bad first look.

Baseball was so strange at the time. It wasn't until 1893 that the pitching rubber was moved to 60'6" (imagine Randy Johnson from 50 feet away!). Two of the longest losing steaks were set in 1890. Thee year there were three major leagues and 24 teams. The population couldn't support that many. And then you had syndicate ownership. Same group owned Brooklyn and Baltimore, Louisville and Pittsburgh and St. Louis and Cleveland. The last group quit trying to field two good tams and sent anyone from the Spiders who could swing a bat to St. Looie. The Spiders were a farm team and would be as competitve as any AAA would in the majors

think you might be confused. 96 and 97 teams were top of the league talent. We dispatched the Mariners with Randy, A-Rod, Griffey and Buhner pretty easily, but the Yankees were our kryptonite- like they were for the majority of that timeframe. 98-00 were slightly below .500 teams, and by and large, the Orioles hung around 67-74 wins for all but two seasons from 01-12. They were the definition of mediocrity during that time frame, as Angelos refused to get involved in the international FA market, and refused to give out any big pitching contracts.
