They were saving the time out for a short pass across the middle. You call a TO there and any pass in bounds ends the game.

30 sec is plenty of time to run a FG unit on the field

Most of the blame for that ending goes to Eberflus - you have to call timeout there. The Bears were all out of sorts and he should’ve immediately called TO after the sack, then had Caleb throw it to the sidelines and then try the FG. There were 30 seconds left when Caleb took the sack - they would’ve had a chance for the FG even if the worst happened and they were tackled in bounds. I have no idea what the hell was going on. Really stupid.

This season has been funny. During the packers game when they were lining up for the field goal at the end I was holding my two year old and telling him we are bears fans and we will always experience heartbreak in these moments. We are going to screw this up.

This game, my wife who doesn’t really follow sports or the bears until she met me was sitting on the couch and when they were driving and got into field goal range asked, “don’t they lose these games?” And I said “yeah, we’re going to lose this game.”

I really hope that changes, but I won’t expect it.

If the bears just get an average head coach next year they are going to be a lot better. Depending on who they bring in, they could win the nfc north.

To win that division they will also need O line help
