couple of stories on Torts.
still not sure how it will work out, but at least he's not being a dick already

Putting Johnny on the spot ...
Botchford: Tortorella an open book ? for now

Yeah, John Tortorella is the biggest question mark I have with the Canucks this season. No doubt he did a great job in 2003-04 & 2011-12, but his attitude not just alienates the media but also his players. He wasn't exactly the most offensive friendly coach on the Rangers, and the way he put star players in the dog house also hurt his team. Hopefully now that he's away from the NYC media he will focus more on coaching and less time on the sideshow theatrics.

Otherwise, looking at the projected Canucks roster,

L1: Daniel Sedin - Henrik Sedin - Alexandre Burrows
L2: David Booth - Ryan Kesler - Jannick Hansen
L3: Chris Higgins - Jordan Shroeder - Brad Richardson
L4: Hunter Shinkaruk - Bo Horvat - Zack Kassian
1st 2 links are strong, back 2 lines got potential.

D1: Dan Hamhuis - Alexander Edler
D2: Jason Garrison - Kevin Bieksa
D3: Yannick Weber - Chris Tanev
Top 2 parings look solid, 3rd paring is blah.

G1: Roberto Luongo
G2: Eddie Lack
Luongo remains a question mark, but I like Lack's game, so the loss of Schneider shouldn't hurt too much.

basically, Murray gets a minute more per game, but Alberts gets tougher competition.
similar outcomes, big price difference

Butter of team canada doesnt think Gaunce is ready for the big show that he is years away he feels Shinkaruku (or the guy that battles the ninjas that I cant spell) is ahead of him in development

that seems rather odd.
Everything else I've seen or read on him lauds his hockey sense, complete game, leadership, responsibility, etc.
and he has the size for this league already.

Shinkaruk has the magic mittens, and a higher ceiling, but I just can't see him being closer to game ready. :noidea:
