I guess it’s a huge mental block/obstacle to overcome two best players in the world in best of five in consecutive days. Nadal winning the first set is probably a seal in his twelfth win at RG. Not sure Thiem has the mental tank capacity to battle this out for a win. Physically he looks ok. He should take things slow and can’t stand that far back from the baseline.

Can't start this 3rd set by dropping the opening service game

I'm ok with Thiem losing in 4 but at least compete in this set. Don't lose 6-1 or 6-2.

thiem breaking down badly

aside from rafa dropping that 2nd set with one of the worst service games i've ever seen him play, this was pretty routine

french open #12. crazy.

Thiem had chances on both Rafa's service games in this set but unable to get the break.

Disappointing

not easy for a one hander to deal with that topspin. try throwing a tennis ball-size rock in a backhand motion starting with your arm elevated up around your ears over and over again. that's what it's like to hit that kind of topspin.

there's a reason the only people to beat him at the french have had spectacular 2-handers that allowed them to take the ball on the rise and hug the baseline.
