Avs sign David Jones on four-year deal.

Bummer. I was hoping the Isles would go after him.

Barf talked to some season ticket holders today & told them he's looking to acquire a top 4 defenseman. He said the same thing last year so I'm not about to hold my breath. As you can imagine people aren't renewing their season tickets in high numbers these days. He has to say something to get their hopes up.:

He was going to be an UFA. Jones didn't have a good year. The Avs obviously believe he's going to bounce back.

That's a lot more than I would have given Jones. Moulson is such a bargain at 3.1M per.

tonight, i talked to someone who talked to someone (fine dont believe me) who talked to David Jones and Jones thought for sure he was going to be hitting the market July 1st

and he was thinking if he got a 3 mill per multi year offer from the canucks he was taking it. (damn!)The Avs didnt talk to Jones agent all season long and he was in Joe Saccos doghouse for a stretch, sitting out games as a healthy scratch. The way the guy described it, Jones seemed very down mentally heading towards July 1

and then out of nowhere the Avs call his agent with this offer

Dear God. If that's true, no fecking thank you. I like Chris Kelly, but I was thinking $3M tops (hopefully $2.5M - $2.75M). At $4M a pop, no dice. Same goes for David Jones too. Nice player, but too, too, too much scratch.
