What's interesting about that is Richards is the guy who interviewed and encouraged the hiring of Hartsburg. Something you would think a Head coach would be against, hiring another guy more qualified than you.

A smart man surrounds himself with people who are smarter, I guess.

Howson does that too, but it's more of a default setting.

Matt Duchene has signed a 2 year, $7 million contract with the Avs - So David Jones is making more more than Duchene?!? That's kinda crazy.

It says to me the Avs want to see him stay healthy before they commit long term to Duchene.

It's actually a good deal for Duchene if he kicks butt the next two years. He'll break the bank in arbitration. It's all up to him now.

Brent Peterson says Preds have offered Jordin Tootoo a "sizable" 3-year contract but have been turned down, expects him to hit the market.

It's kind of bullshit, really. The Preds keep drafting well, trading picks for players, signing whoever they can, and yet a steady stream of top end veteran players keeps marching out of Nashville. I guess we don't know for sure yet if Suter is gone, but it really looks like he is.

And honestly? It's shown that it's damn close to being a BIG hockey town. Obviously it's at a bit of a disadvantage in the South, but it's the only professional team in town, and they compete, they're in a conference that brings in GREAT talent. I don't know much about the area, but I imagine it's a great place to live. Looks pretty awesome to me. They do really well with the budget they have, but they're at a competitive disadvantage, and they'll never get to that final stage until guys commit.

Is that a shot at the Titans?
