The Mike Shanahan Error: How To Rebuild (And Then Destroy) a Team in 4 Seasons

here is my answer to the snyder meddling issue

i suggest people read thru this and see the other side

shanny's meddling , shanny's poor cap management choices , shanny's failure with putting together a good staff , shanny's failure at developing draft picks

that isnt snyder meddling and it refutes ant sill snyder forced Rg3 on him BS

one dinner doesnt destroy a team the rest of that stuff does

Mike Shanahan FAILED miserably in being the leader of this TEAM. It was his responsibility, and his alone to protect our franchise quarterback from further injury (last season) and ANY of the media hype surrounding this volatile situation.

And what did Mike do? He gambled with our franchise QB, and when he went all in and lost...he put out leaks that he wasn't the reason for the failed season. I thought coming into DC Shanahan was HOF worthy, but after this debacle I think it shows what type of person and HC Mike Shanahan really is...Just one LUCKY SOB IMO.

Keep drinking the kool aid, 15 years of the same circus tells all I need to know without someone writing an article. Hell our new assistant or whatever GM we have Smith fired a 14-2 coach because he didn't like him. Same guy Snyder fired a few years earlier just as he was getting the ship righted. Shanahan isn't innocent but I go with his track record over Snyder's any day. Hell maybe we'll sign Jim Zorn's cousin next.

Whatever dude..we all payed close attention to what happened step by step over the years. You have to look at what options where available at the TIME. I could write a ten page paper arguing the other side of all this but it's a moot point now. It's over, now we have to see what happens next. You know the old saying, "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me"?..How many times does Snyder have to fool us before we lose our optimism.

I'm not drinking the kool-aid.

I fully expect a circus.

I was merely putting together a list of things that I thought the Shannys did that were positive, after a season of so, so, SO much negative.

As I've said multiple times, Snyder is stupid with regards to social politics, RG3 needs to grow up, Shanahan is a meglomaniacal freak, and it doesnt look any better with this current "shift in structure."

Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me.

Yep there is no way in hell I perceive having AJ Smith as a good thing. How do you spell M O R O N? He let a winning coach go because he didn't like him and hired Norv. LMAO!!!! One thing for sure he and Snyder both sacked Schottenheimer. Step right up into the three ring circus.

Smith clearly isn't the answer. If he was, Dan had the perfect opportunity to make him the GM. SO what is Dan going to do with Smith? Probably keep his as a "consultant" to be Dan's eyes and ears on what Bruce is doing, a huge vote of confidence for Bruce. If that's not meddling or undermining the confidence of your GM, I don't know what is.......Right Dad?

Same shit, different day. Par for the course for Dan.

I saw dad say in another thread we won't give Bruce a chance. I absolutely will give Bruce a chance. I also Dan's track record so a healthy dose of skepticism is prudent.

Yeah, as I posted in that tread, I'm ok with Allen. Most GMs are not evaluating talent at the micro level. They are running a franchise. They have a good scouting dept that they rely on for recommendations. Of course they may watch tape on specific players they want to make an offer on or draft, but they don't live in the film room. Bruce has been around football long enough to be able to do this at the level an Executive should.

I guarantee you the Smith hiring irked shanahan and will eventually be cited as another reason the relationship went sour. And why wouldn't it? You boss brings in a consultant to advise him on what you are doing........but I guess that's not meddling.

I don't need these bloggers to tell me what I believe. I form my opinions by what I actually hear people say and by what actually happens. These bloggers are no better than many of us no these forums. They never leave their computers. They don't go into the field and talk to players or coaches. They "report" on rumors and speculation, just like many on here do.

Yep & this again proves that the head coach should not be the GM (or whatever you want to call him). We certainly don't know if the new setup will work out alright. However - I do know that these head coach/GM setups rarely ever work. Time to move on.

i dont need bloggers to tell me what to believe either

but there are 2 sides of the story and how do you know that shanny wasnt on board with that ? he did have control of all football operations so my question is how does a smith get hired without tacit approval from Mike ?

and if the controlling shanny stories are true then why wouldnt an owner get a guy in place to help with personell

the owner has a right to put people in the FO as he sees fit . it isnt meddling to restructure a front office

shanny had control of all player issues .

hiring a bingo caller to call the offense and pepper rogers were done a half decade ago

I don't know that mike didn't approve. But based on what I do know about mike, he is a control freak. I find it very hard to believe that mike would welcome having another GM come in and report to dan for the sole purpose of evaluating what mike is doing. Just doesn't pass the smell test.

While pepper and Lewis we're a few years ago, it just proves my belief that dan hasn't changed. Because he is still pulling the same crap he was half a decade ago. When he feels shut out, he "hires" a consultant to tell him what's going on and to be his instrument for meddling. At least he's learned he came be overt with his meddling.
