To be fair, Tennessee wasn't the worst pick of the 2. Some people are at least hyped about Tennessee, the Michigan opponent was plain outrageous.

I agree. I think UTenn has the potential to be a decent team (not final 4 good) but I don't expect UM to do anything to speak of this coming season. The Harbaugh factor has gone to some peoples heads me thinks.

With the success that Alabama has HAD in the last decade it's hard to think that they won't be a team contending for the top spot. However when you look at all the off the field issues they've had recently, and on top of that they're lack of trophies the last 2 season....Maybe a few down years is in the cards.

In all honesty I saw this coming, as did most people. You can't stay on top forever. College football is extremely cyclical. Wouldn't be surprised to see Saban take another shot at the NFL come here in the next couple seasons.

Top 5 pass-rushing defensive lines for 2015

In a sports that seems to get more and more pass-heavy every year, getting after the passer has taken on a new importance. Which teams do we think will create the most fearsome pass rushes in 2015?

5. Georgia — Georgia is going to get a big boost from its incoming class. Three four-star defensive ends are already on campus as early enrollees, while two more join them in the fall. There’s also five-star DT Trent Thompson, who should earn immediate playing time and occupy blockers. There’s a little cheating here, as Georgia generally gets much of its pass rush from its outside linebackers, but UGA’s reloaded group up front should be pretty darn good this fall.

4. Texas A&M — Despite their defensive issues last year, the Aggies had a sometimes-great pass rush for stretches of the season. They had multiple sacks in half of their SEC games even though the defense was atrocious. With John Chavis shifting the focus of his new team’s defensive linemen to solely attacking one gap, life should become much easier for the pass rush. Add in a year of development from phenom Myles Garrett and the addition of Daylon Mack and the Aggies should produce an even better, more consistent pass rush than they did a year ago.

3. Auburn — Will Muschamp does nothing but build excellent pass-rushing defensive lines, and that’s exactly what he’s going to do at Auburn in his first year back on the Plains. He has all of the tools to create a devastating pass rush out of the rubble of last year’s failed efforts. Carl Lawson is back from injury and pairs with DaVonte Lambert, who came on strong in his first year on campus last year. Incoming five-star defensive end Byron Cowart gives Muschamp a nice luxury, a player capable of lining up with his hand in the ground or at Muschamp’s signature Buck position. Coach Boom’s defenses put up big sack totals every year, and 2015 at Auburn should be no different.

2. Missouri — For two straight years, Missouri has led the SEC in sacks. In both of those seasons, they’re top-two sackers were a different pair than the year before. Despite losing 23.5 sacks from Shane Ray and Markus Golden, putting Mizzou this high is a vote of confidence in defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski. Harold Brantley is one of the best defensive tackle pass rushers in the conference, and defensive end fill-ins Charles Harris and Marcus Loud, along with incoming five-star signee Terry Beckner, should provide all the juice the Mizzou pass rush needs.

1. Tennessee — Not only do the Volunteers bring back the best pass-rushing pair in the SEC, they add more talent to their defensive line rotation than anyone else. Bringing back Derek Barnett and Curt Maggitt (a DE/LB hybrid, in fairness) would have been enough to put the Vols at the top of this list. Adding defensive ends Kyle Phillips, Andrew Butcher and Darrell Taylor and defensive tackles Shy Tuttle and Kahlil McKenzie pushes this group over the top.
