With the addition of Franco starting soon I can see things a little brighter. With Galvis batting 2nd and Franco 3rd ,Howard 4th (etc), the Phillies should be able to improve in the runs department. They must move Utley to the 7 spot or play him less. I would like to see Harang and Hamels stay at least until the all star break. Also I was thinking that they should bring up Nola for a spot start. If he does well then give him more starts. With his control he should do fine. If this were to happen I think the Phillies could play .500 ball the rest of the season, or at least until they start trading at the break. Somehow, Hamels, Harang and Nola as the top three starters could change our negative outlook into a positive. Just being an armchair GM, but I think it could work!

Nola continues to pitch well. He tossed 7 shutout innings for Reading last night. He certainly is consistent. The Phillies need to bring him up for a spot start next week. The fans would love it! If our starters continue to do well
we will not be as bad as projected. Also I am hoping that Franco adds a spark to the lineup!

We shall see. We've seen this picture before only to be disappointed by another long losing streak.

I'm sure you already noticed, but he pitches 7 innings and strikes out 2 or 3. For me, that is cause for concern. Is that possible to do in the major leagues on a consistent basis?

Nola averages a little over 6 strikeouts per 9 innings. He only allows 1.5 walks per 9 innings. He has pinpoint control. Currently his whip is a paltry 0.96. He probably could be compared to the great Greg Maddux! Nola is a true student of the game. The Phillies and other teams have fire ballers that can't throw strikes, not so with Nola!

Nola certainly looks promising. I'm anxious to see him face MLB hitters and we should get to see that in the near future. Odds are, after today's performance by Franco, and others lately, there's a chance that the Phils may want to keep Hamels. Let's see where we are in June.
