I just can’t come with a team that would trade a real good under control young pitcher no matter what was offered
There's always at least one team every year looking to burn it all down.
Just don't know who that might be yet.

One scenario would be to offer a pitcher from our own system that the other team would like as much as the one they have, but where our guy is a level or two lower. Then you add another attractive prospect to make it worth their while. For example, Porter and Zavala might work. Maybe even Roby and Harris.

There are other ways as well. It might even take a three way trade.

Barlow was on the DL. I guess they activated him and sent him down.

It would have to major for either one of those packages and I mean MAJOR

The trade would have to include a long term extension.
If so, I'd definitely be interested, but there's a good chance it would cost something ridiculous—something like a package of Carter, Leiter, Porter, Acuña.
Maybe too rich.
Too rich for me, I like what we've built, I don't have faith in Ohtani being a starter long term, just seems gimmicky to me, and not v sustainable, but that's just me, I just think someone is going to get burned

Gavin Williams from the Guardians system would be an intriguing target. He is ranked 17th best prospect overall by MLB. It would take a major package. They are looking for upper level or major league-ready outfield prospects, but I would imagine for Williams they would want a highly regarded pitching prospect back as well.

He would immediately become our best pitching prospect as he is ranked about 20 spots higher than Owen White.

Maybe too rich.

Does the MLBPA even allow a trade to include an extension?

Either way, I can't picture any scenario where Ohtani doesn't hit the market.

I think you can, but those type of deals are extremely rare.

One more contract like deGrom with possibility of getting hurt could ruin the club for a long time.
