Im not. i understood the Quan pick b/c we lost McCann and we had to replace his snaps. So, i understood the pick. Yes, reports said Paul and King could play LT. Matter of fact Paul had the most experience playing LT in this draft class. How is looking at LT, CB, and Wr short term? Im not denying that we got good players.
If you had told me on April 24th that in the deepest OL/WR class in recent memory we would come away with Brandon Coleman and Luke McCaffery I would have punched you in the face... with words. How can any poster on here deny or disagree with this quote? I think the quote makes sense. Again, we got good players hopefully they play well.
A lot of players could have replace McCann.
Paul and Kings probably can play LT…just not likely on day one.
Taking a lesser player because you see their position as more of a need today is short term.
The quote does make sense. I was not as big on Coleman and McCaffery as some of the other players, but that is me. I will have to look at McCaffery a bit closer.
You seem to hold these pundits in a bit higher esteem than I do. The real professionals in talent evaluation work for the organizations that employ the players…not the media.
I had Sinnott, Coleman and McCaffrey in a ton of mock drafts
Im assuming in the 3rd round. Did you have McCaffrey in the 3rd round also?
Kool Aide was the lesser player? The Saints traded up for the guy. He was high on teams' boards not just the pundits. Of course, we would never know how these guys will turn out as of right now.
Nobody was taking any of them in the third.
Kings and Paul were lesser than Newton. You were advocating taking these kinds of players because of perceived need.
i am happy mostly with the picks . . it wasnt optimal but is wasnt anywhere near a disaster either . . they drafted good athletes all the way through the draft
There were a couple that under a different regime I'd probably be a little more outspoken about, but it's too soon for me to start questioning Adam.i am happy mostly with the picks . . it wasnt optimal but is wasnt anywhere near a disaster either . . they drafted good athletes all the way through the draft
So you’re advocating that we should have drafted a lesser player at a position of need as opposed to the best player available at a position of strength? If so, that’s how busts are drafted.I would have taken Kool Aide and Paul with the 2nd round picks. Both guys were drafted 2nd round. Cant forecast a trade down. I read a post the Newton could play DE in a 4-3 alignment for DQ. If this is true and he is on the field most of the time, then that explains the pick a bit more in what they are trying to do.
My philoshy was to draft BPA at position of need. Not BPA at a position of strength. If Newton takes snaps at DE then I see why they are so excited after making this pick. Really not that excited with Ferell and Fowler at the other DE spot across from Armstrong. If Newton plays some DE that could be a nasty dline. They do have a nice rotation going with starters and backups. We will see.
