UW looked very good, but the truth is, Stanford never showed up. After escaping in LA last week and the "game" last night, it is obvious that Stanford was never a top ten team.
I pointed it out all summer that Stanford had lost so much talent to the draft and grad that while they still would be one of the quality teams of the PAC, they simply couldn't be as dominate as they were last year. Every couple years, they have a rebuild season like this. We simplely caught um at the right time, right place, while our team was loaded and finally ready to match up with their power game.
Yes, I'm shocked at what a ass kicking it ended up being, but not entirely considering how much more they've depended on McCaffrey to do it all on offense this year and what our defense is capable of.
Stanford has a winning formula in place and they'll be competing in the top tier of the PAC for years to come.
That being said, the Huskies made a statement last night. The preseason ranking and a lot of the hype was justified. I still think the PACs chances of getting to the playoffs this year is diminished due to a not so great OOC SOS for most of our teams and we'd need to consistently keep 4-5 teams ranked to boost the SOS as well and that hasn't happened. If the Huskies remain undefeated and win the PAC champ game, we'd have a legit argument for a playoff slot, but there is plenty of big games coming up for us that we could lose.
Playoffs??? Not something I lose sleep over. For me, I'll always want the Rose bowl. Call me a traditionalist.
