Media tried doing that before the season even started. At least now it's based at least slightly off real game play so why not.should we just hand the ACC and a playoff spot to Clemson now? If FSU is their biggest challenger its theirs
Media thrives on controversy, and nothing would be blowing heads than two teams from the same conference get in the playoffs.
It's not happening so worry not.
So, you guys are still doing that hurry up thing, huh?a couple quick hit stats from Sat
5 TD drives in a row 90 sec or less. none had more than 5 plays
Prukop threw for 271 yards, the most for a starting QB debut since 1994
Troy Dye leads the nation in Tackles for loss with 4.5
It's slowed considerably since Chip left. Not sure that would surprise anyone. if it aint broke dont fix it. but the pace still seemed slow comparatively
5th yr senior in a debut is kind of a new/recent thing so that 1994 thing is kind of lame and doesn't really compare.a couple quick hit stats from Sat

Can only run it as fast as your players can manage it at a high level. It's slowed considerably since Chip left.
Not really sure why we are slowing it down, but nothing seems to be as fast as that 2012 offense.
True, but I felt there were times under Chip where maybe players couldn't run it, but he wanted to get that tempo in as fast as possible....and if they couldn't handle it, he knew it and just drew up a simple run play up the middle, but it was about establishing that tempo and getting things going. Even if the play didn't get more then a yard or none. Can only run it as fast as your players can manage it at a high level.

As for those drives in general, do it against a real defense and then we'll talk. Same thing with UW right?
I mean all I really took away from our game was Browning seems to be able to hit the deep routes now when entirely not under duress and John Ross is still a complete fucking stud when not injured. Stats and whatnot really don't matter much against subpar competition.
The difference now is not having MM running it. It's really probably not a lot more than that. There's a reason he's a heisman winner. He entirely excelled in that system and was as fast at reading and reacting as anyone in college football likely has ever been in such an offense.True, but I felt there were times under Chip where maybe players couldn't run it, but he wanted to get that tempo in as fast as possible....and if they couldn't handle it, he knew it and just drew up a simple run play up the middle, but it was about establishing that tempo and getting things going. well it slowed a little under Frost even with MM and now with a new OC it appears slowed again but I think it will pick back up this week now that the newer players are a bit more comfortableThe difference now is not having MM running it. They may find their guy to run that offense at that speed again, but it just feels like you aren't going to hit the maximum speed with a one and done. They need time to get that good at those reads.
Helfrich was there running that offense at the time Kelly was running the team. He knows the potential and knows how to run it at max speed. If there's anything slowing it down it's differences in the personnel and it has to start at the QB.
I'm sure they will speed it up as fast as their newly anointed QB can handle it. They never hit light speed with Adams, but it did seem like it did get faster as the season wore on. His development was limited by his injuries to some degree.
If this kid Herbert is nearly as good as their coaches are saying he is, you might find more speed next year. MM came out after red shirting in '12 and had a handle on what that system was asking of him. Time will tell if this next one that's moving up the ranks fast is anything close to able to run things at that speed or not.
You realize the playoff rules would allow two teams from the same conference to make it in, right?
There is no playoff rule baring two teams from the same conference from getting in. It's just that the odds are not favorable to that. But it could always happen. From what I remember, the rules would allow 2 from the same conference in, but there could never be 3.
The criteria for the playoff selection: A team's SOS is one of the most pertinent considerations for the committee in making its selections. Other factors that the committee weighs are conference championships, team records, and head-to-head results, plus other points such as injuries and weather.
