Runner up yes but still maybe only the 4th or so best team in the conference.

UCLA is finally building a very nice practice facility/FOC that will make the recruiting pitch a lot easier.

This is why I doubt he leaves. He actually donated some of his own money to get that facility built. Don't see him leaving before he even gets a chance to use it.

Forward pass was a gimmick when it first came out. Option, triple option, screen passes, pretty much anything that wasnt done before can be considered a gimmick

I don't think Chip's offense can necessarily be called a "gimmick" anymore. It definitely was when it was instituted, but enough other schools are using their own version or adding elements of it that it's kind of hard to still call it a gimmick.

I understand why some people still refer to it as a gimmick. You really won't ever see it used to a great degree at the traditional power type schools, so it gets called a gimmick.

Bottom line, when Bill Belichik calls you to meet with him and discuss offense as he did with Kelly, you're probably onto something more than a gimmick.

He doesn't run a pro style offense. This is why he was fired as a pro head coach. It's a gimmick. Shtick. It's smoke and mirrors. Option mixed with push as fast as you can go. And it worked well for several years. Teams took a bit to catch up to stopping it. It can't and won't work in the pros and isn't as deadly as it was in college now that teams are ready for it.

The reason Kelly will struggle to find a college team isn't his gimmicks though. His show cause is still a problem and his overall personality is a big glaring problem.

You won't catch me going around bragging about other Pac teams wins in other threads. I'll give a friendly congrats to my friends up here when they win, but that's about it. Screw this conference v conference made up bullshit. I'm not part of 'team pac' and can't say there are many fans of Pac teams up here that are.

I agree. I usually "pick a side" in every game I watch because it makes it a little more fun and interesting, but I couldn't care less what conference they are from. Obviously, I always want USC to win and UCLA to lose. For the rest of the conference, it depends on who they are playing. Example, I like TCU better than Oregon, so I'll be pulling for TCU. I like and respect the smart guys, so I'll be pulling for them vs. Iowa.

His dad lives in Palm Springs and they're extremely close. Heard he really enjoys the proximity the UCLA job provides for spending time together. Some things you can't put a price on.

1970 - 1979 = 62 - 44 -2
1980 - 1989 = 44 - 34
1990 - 1999 = 36 - 31 -2
2000 - 2009 = 35 -23
2010 - 2014 = 17 -12
2015 = 2 - 5

The B1G can claim this year with out a doubt. But over the last 5 decades it's really not even close.
