Totally agree - I said a few pages back that 89 was the beginning. First bowl appearance and win in 25 years and Phil Knight became involved. It was the 1st gear of the transformation of the program. 5 years later their PAC Championship began the 2nd gear. 2001 finished 2nd in the country began the 3rd gear. Playing Auburn in the Natty the Ducks put it into 4th gear. Time will tell if the transmission is blown or will the program shove it into 5th gear. Recruiting remands strong there is a ton of young talent. What remains to be seen is if this current coaching staff can finish what was started back in 1989.

Yep. I saw your previous post and I absolutely agree.

I always say the two best things that Rich Brooks ever did were 1) hire Mike Bellotti and 2) leave for the NFL.

Lots.
12 is the average IQ of ducks fans
12 is the average number of years ducks fans have know football existed
12 is the age level of most of the ducks hate material
12 is the number of teeth the average duck fans have
12 is the number of times Vernon Adams had to retake his tests
that's racist

So Raider says himself that HE thinks they are young, and you flip it into our fans making excuses. :L

When do duck fans get over themselves and allow real football discussions to take place again without being dumbasses on every post?
did someone call for me?

@WizardHawk you take this too seriously. I'd probably like you if you weren't a husky. then again, you'd hate me either way. sometimes I read your posts and I'm like damn, this guys is smart and knows his sports. other times I want to send you hate mail and sign you up for magazine subscriptions anonymously. I'm kind of a dick that way

Wait, I just laughed at your prior post. I think sometimes you all take what I say way to literally. I too can say things just for effect or to piss off people. Never claimed to be a saint.

:suds:

Oh, and try posting now and then to those things you agree with. Wouldn't kill you. Well at least I don't think it would. Maybe? :noidea:

That depends on how you define "run." The 2005 definition is defined only by having a winning season. that's fine and all, but it doesn't describe how Oregon got there.

It was the hiring of Bellotti that started the whole process. had rich brooks not hired him, I doubt that we ever reach the Rose Bowl in January of 1995. Slob Toledo just couldn't get it done as our OC.

I don't really care what the blowhards in the media think. I was there and I lived, I breathed it.

 @ Ducks fans trying to claim more credit than your team deserves. A "run of success" is not a really good season or 2 followed by your team dropping back to where it typically has been for 3-4 years. Those are good seasons mixed in with the usual.

Your actual run of success began in 1999 at the earliest and definitely in 2005. Those earlier seasons may be the foundation that your run was built on, but they are not part of your run of success. Pretty much all PAC teams have had a season or 2 here and there when they finished with 9-11 wins and nationally ranked before falling back to usual levels. The difference is that Oregon has been able to use those seasons to create the run of success that they've had the last several years.

Over 12 hours without a duck fan trying to tell us how long their run 'was'. Sweet.

1989?!? Seriously?

In 1989 Oregon went 8-4. The next 3 years, Oregon was 8-4, 3-8, 6-6 and 5-6. The earliest you can truly claim Oregon's success starting is 1994 when they went 9-4 and finished #11, then in 1995 they went 9-3 and finished #18.

However, they that followed with seasons of 6-5, 7-5 and 8-4.

Then in 1999 Oregon finished ranked #18, #8 and #2.

They followed that by finishing unranked in 2002, 2003 and 2004.

Most people look at Oregon's run beginning in 1999 at the earliest and many don't credit the run starting until 2005.
2005 is when OD became a fan.....just sayin'.

Fun stat for the day. After last night a friend on a Stanford board I use posted the following: CAL has not beat all 3 other California schools in the same year in the last 57 years!

If Stanford beats Cal this year, it will be the 11th time since 1970 (4th in the last 6 years) that Stanford has accomplished that feat. I am looking into it, but I am sure UCLA and USC have done it much more frequently.
