Total Defesne only really takes into account yards. if you break it down farther and look at Yards per play and scoring D it does make Oregon's D look solid in some years.

No one views your 'run' as that long. No one. But if you are going to get hung up on such things you aren't one of the reasonable duck fans I'm talking to anyway so carry on.
Oregon has had 2 runs first was the building run that started with Brooks and went into bellotti. even through the Harrington years it was still a building process. then at the tail end of Bellotti and into kelly is where the other run started with the nations longest running streak of at least 9 wins a season.

False on all acounts. making up stats isnt going to make people like you better.
Wait, I give a smart ass answer to a poster who says he's only here to give the same and yet you only question my post? Give equal time to the rest of your fellow ducks posts that are total BS.

And it all missed the point anyway. For some reason you can't talk about the Pac and bring up generalities without some duck fans getting defensive and making it about them. All I said to begin with was you can get places in the conference with strong defenses because we aren't an overall tough defensive league. There are many solid offenses, but far fewer defenses. Build that unit up and you can get places. Not everything said up here is a slam on the ducks and not every conversation about the conference has to be entirely about them. There are 11 other teams in it you know.

I was refering to the streak comments. I agree with you that no one sees it as starting in 89 not even Duck fans. but I assumed you were only talking about the streak that most non duck fans do going back to kelly.

Didn't mean you made it about the ducks, but it was those comments that lead to what you did reply to.

Stanford has been the standard-bearer for the conference defense for some time. Sure, Oregon has been #2 for a few seasons during the last decade, but IMO a distant second at best. And it doesn't take long to fall off the top 50 for the rest of the conference. This is an offensive league. And after Oregon created their own offense and the league expanded and brought in Rich rod, leach, and dykes, plus what Harbaugh built in Stanford, you ended up with a hell of a diversity of offenses to have to prepare for week in and week out.

I wouldn't want to be a DC in this conference. Power run one week, HUNH/spread/option the next, and try the air raid after it. No thank you.

It makes Stanford's defense that much more impressive and at the same time begs the question of how far it is to rank the other defenses in our conference against the rest of FBS because of that increased difficulty.

That depends on how you define run. Lossington fans do not define when Oregon's run began or when it ends.

The arrival of Mike Bellotti in 1989 was the beginning of Oregon's success...Prior to that we were a PAC cellar dweller for a couple decades.

Wasn't that what Sark said every damn year? When do Lossington fans stop using that excuse? :noidea:
So Raider says himself that HE thinks they are young, and you flip it into our fans making excuses. :L

When do duck fans get over themselves and allow real football discussions to take place again without being dumbasses on every post?

So you see going 8-4, 8-4, 3-8, 6-6, 5-6 from 89 to 93 success and part of any kind of streak?
na im pretty sure Im right.
after that 1 losing season from 94 to 2015 thats a streak. 9 wins or more from 07 to 14 thats a streak. 10 wins or more from 08 to 14 thats a streak. 30-28 in 89-93 is no kind of streak

Everyone likes to point to the Pick as the change in Oregon football, but it was the hiring of Bellottit in 1989 that transformed Oregon football.

Prior to Bellotti's arrival we were pretty damn awful. We basically had one good year from the late 60s until 1989 and that wss only because of Reggie Ogburn.

they were average with 5 seasons of either 5 or 6 wins before he got there. then they had 2 good seasons before being average again until that 1994 season. he wasnt much of a spark. then he took over and made other changes to the staff thats when things really turned.

Defense can do you wonders in this conference no doubt. We have a glut of top flight offenses, but only a few teams with rock solid scary defenses.

Wasn't UW the last Pac team that had a dominant defense and actually accomplished something? Our Palouse Posse won 8 games.
