he is a tv football fan. Such things don't bother casual fans.

I must admit, it sure is nice of the Pac12 coaches to care about the home game experience of SEC fans.

Get a real playoff and none of this matters... until they get 32 teams in a playoff I won't be happy.

And don't tell me it can't be done... every teams plays 3+ cupcakes each year, a conference championship, and a bowl game. Cut all those game out... that frees up 5 games. There is 32 teams in a bracket right there. Hell, if they are gonna add a final game in the new playoff format, that would be 6 games.... so bump it to 64.

I know... then the money won't flow to the poor little schools that Florida and OSU pay $600,000 per game to beat them by 72 pts... and the old men who run the bowls would all fight over who gets the best games.

We all know the system is crap... end of story.

all major college football games are a great experience. Some better than others.

.....with the ESPN/SEC network and this decision maybe the mother-ship is content with all conferences going to 8 conf games.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if that is where this is going.

Moving to 9 conference games doesn't make the OOC schedule any tougher.

Personally, I'd love to be able to go to one of those garbage football games.

Adding another conference game would add 7 more losses across the conference. Fact.

Adding another conference game would remove one of those worthless games from most of your teams. Fact.

How would it not make the schedule better and thus add WAY more value for season ticket paying fans?

And Mamba, you are right. I forget he doesn't pay for those shitty games. Easy to preach when it doesn't impact his own wallet.

Anyone who doesn't have season tickets or get to go to games in person apparently.

I am sorry. But it makes a huge difference on this topic IMO. When I get my season tix in the mail I don't want to see 3 OOC cupcakes.

At least in conference cupcakes it is still a somewhat rivalry with a little history that leads to great game atmospheres.

Washington State, Cal... doesn't matter who it is. I take an extra in conference over a 3rd OOC fluff team.

What is needed is 8 conference games and a better quality OOC schedule. More games between the top conferences. They usually do 1 now, I'd like to see 2 or more. It would make for better football and it would help with ranking teams.

What they need to be bitching about is FCS games in general that pretty much all conferences/teams outside a few play. And that starts with not allowing them to be bowl eligible.

Yet, this isn't even really in the same ball park of discussion for why they have these OOC games, which is really about having more home games in year, which requires playing schools with smaller stadiums who can get a bigger paycheck with a road trip than a home game.

And people complain about neutral site games. But really, it would be nice to see an increase in neutral site games so that both teams can get paychecks and get more rotations of teams. Which even though is not a home game for either team, acts similar to one with respect to payouts.

Most people sell the tickets to games they don't want to attend. Getting season tickets is a discount and a benefit.

how does taking away a home game against a mid major and adding an away conference game (possibly against vandy, kentucky, or miss st) benefit season ticket holders?

I dont know how it works there, but no matter who comes to Autzen in conference they come in droves. It makes it fun. On the other hand, if a west coast non bcs team comes, it is just lame.

Every year no matter what, your team will have 7 home games 5 road games most years and some years 6 home 6 road. So why not have it be another conf opponent.

i agree, but now that they're locked into 9 conference games they will not play more than one quality OOC game. except rare exceptions

I totally get where you are coming from now, and am coming around a little bit.

Not close to all the way. But I can respect the reasoning here. Just don't fully embrace it.

I wouldn't be shocked if Larry Scott (PAC Commish) considers 8 down the road if the SEC stays at 8.

I watch the PAC12 Network and they beat it into the ground how much an 8 game schedule is an advantage and in many ways it is. So my opinion is influenced by what I believed prior and now with PAC 12 media support.

But ultimately, all of this should be on equal ground throughout the power 5 conferences.

Yes, but doesn't make the OOC schedule tougher.
So you mean removing samford and adding even Vandy wouldn't add any risk? If that reduces the joke factor then consider how many would be adding the bigger teams they are now avoiding. Any system that added the conference games back would increase the difficulty of at least half the conference. I mean look at it in reverse. Vandy would get Auburn instead of U of shitstain.

So yes, it would automatically add more difficulty and 7 more conference losses.

Because it adds an extra home game to the season ticket paying fans to start with.
Um, no it wouldn't. You don't currently have road cupcake games. They are already home. Adding a conf game would remove a home game from half of your conference.

Most people sell the tickets to games they don't want to attend. Getting season tickets is a discount and a benefit.
I'm a season ticket holder and this season we have a very SEC like slate because of the Hawaii rule. I'm going to be forced to pay for 3 jokes of a game in order to go to the conference games I want and to keep my seniority. I'm fucking pissed as hell that I have to pay nearly $400 for utter garbage. It's not football man. It's a scrimmage at best.

how does taking away a home game against a mid major and adding an away conference game (possibly against vandy, kentucky, or miss st) benefit season ticket holders?
Half the years you get an extra conference rival home game and the off year you get one less home game, but aren't paying for crap. How is this not self evident?

no, it is for home only. I was trying to say that I will get usually 7 tix and sometimes 6. Through the years I have had them, we have had 8 and 9 game schedules. Every year, 6 or 7 tix. Out of those, I don't want half of them to be OOC. With 8 game conf schedule that is a possibility.

There is a far greater chance in CFB of an upset in conference than OOC.

No doubt about that. You beat a team senseless for 5 or 6 years in a row, they get pissed and can sneak up and bite you in the ass.

Here ya go, Out of my 20 years as a season ticket holder, Oregon has lost two times at home OOC.

Way better chance of getting beat in conference than OOC @ home. ANd lets face it. The big dogs rarely play road OOC. Sometimes, but it is the exception and not the rule.
