FSU/Alabama should be an interesting game. It's obviously going to shake up the rankings at least a bit. But what I'm curious about is if Akers cracks the line up. How do you think he will perform.I thought he was the better RB. When it came to Akers/Harris last recruiting cycle. Both should be great. But Akers looked like more of a complete RB in the Army bowl. What do you think?
I think Naji will have to wait to get his chance but I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a significant amount of playing time. With that said, I'm happy to see him in another conference other than the PAC. It would suck to have to face him year in and year out for the next 3 - 4 years.

So it sounds a lot like the crowd noise in Husky stadium. At the end of last years SC/Udubs game :heh:

Wish I could have been there. Always cool to be in a stadium when the other teams fans are super into the game and their team.

I agree I think it's going to be a bit. Before Naji sees significant playing time. Akers may have a legitimate shot at time with Cook gone for the NFL. Harris played a very strong game during the army bowl. And definitely has a lot of potential to be an elite RB. But Akers looked like he had a more polished well rounded game. I'm not counting on FSU beating Bama tho

Eno Benjamin may be a bitch in the PAC. Its not going to be fun playing ASU. He's got skills

How did you miss this one? Good info on the Pac. I'm really interested in seeing Browning and Rosen play their first game .
Pac-12 football: Eight takeaways from spring practice
There's been a lot of articles from NFL scouts recently. About Rosen's off the field activities. Never payed much attention to the stories. He hasn't been in any real legal trouble. But it's been getting a ton of attention. Hopefully if that's the case he cleans it up some. Especially with the statement made in this past draft.

he's got a lot of aaron Rodgers in him. Not the QB part the ego and attitude part. No run ins with the law or anything just being outspoken and difficult . If he performs people (the NFL) wont care. If he doesn't then he's going to get no love from people and it could go south on him. That's why i'm loving darnold and why Husky fans like Browning I'm sure, none of that , it's all about the team.

I can see the Rodgers comparison. There are a lot of stories circulating. And he's definitely outspoken. I may not like the Bruins by nature. But I hope for his sake he toned it down. If there's one thing we can take away from this years draft. It only takes one off the field incident or diluted test etc... alAnd millions of dollars are literally left on the table. Darnold and Browning are definitely a different breed. You have to appreciate their demeanors on and off the field. As well as their skills

Another of St. Kelly's chior boys winning the day after their time at Nike U.

Ex-Oregon TE captured after overdosing following escape from police custody

Update: Colt Lyerla was apprehended by police on Friday, just one day after he escaped a corrections facility, after he overdosed on opiods at a home in Hillsboro, Oregon. CPR was performed on Lyerla at the scene, and when he was revived and headed towards the ambulance, he tried to flee. Lyerla was then hospitalized and will be booked into Washington County jail on a new second-degree felony charge for escaping the original facility.

Original story

Colt Lyerla's string of bad headlines continues. A warrant for the arrest of the former Oregon tight end has been issued after Lyerla escaped from the Washington County Community Correction Center on Thursday. Lyerla, according to the Oregonian, was serving a six-month sentence. Lyerla was convicted of forgery and drug possession, though some charges were dropped as part of a plea deal.

Now, however, Lyerla can add a felony second-degree escape charge to his record

Thats a good read right there. Victor is a one man wrecking crew and its a big boost for the Husky D to have him back for his SR season. The Husky D wasnt quite the same without him after the injury.

And good point about Cal and how they'll be playing D again. Will take awhile for them to get it all together, but when you play Cal, better be prepared to see some D out there now.

Yeah, I don't mind it being early in the season. Gotta play them every year anyway. Might as well get it out of the way early. As you point out for both teams, if you're going to lose a game, better to lose it early than late, to a team that likely finishes ranked and where it doesn't really effect your chances of winning your division.

Agree about McCaffrey. Good riddance. lol

Love that kids all around game, but hated him using it to beat the Trojans.
I'd think having it so early favors USC. Stanford will be breaking in more youth in key positions. I think we know a bit more about what USC is particularly in key skill roles.

Much ado about nothing....

Really, Rosen didn't dub himself the 'Rosen One' the media did. So the kid believes in his abilities, I like the confidence myself, because mostly true confidence comes from knowledge and practice.

Show me what's been so 'off the field trouble' guys, maybe I'm out of the loop.

As far as the Trump thing goes, it's in vogue by the millennials to a large degree.

So he's on a Trump GC wearing a 'Fuck Trump' hat. BFD...

I actually disagree, the o-line should be healthy and none of them graduated except the right guard. The secondary is intact except strong safety. All the ILB and OLB are back. D-line is stout other than the loss of Thomas. Bryce Love is a freaky fast back, and I am hearing he may get beat out by Speights (RS frosh). Irwin is the best route runner I have seen since Largent, Arcega-Whiteside gives the O a Caujuste like height and speed mismatch. Finally, I think you will see a lot of Shultz, Taboada and Parkins in three TE sets similar to the days of Ertz, Fleener and Toliolo. Nothing helps a green QB like multiple tight ends to dump too.

The big question for me is FB, can Marx stay healthy, if not it is up to a freshman or fifth year walk-on to bulldoze those wholes.

USC lost a few playmakers to the draft, but any affects of the sanctions are over, especially with their recruit classes starting with Sarks. They're back to full strength. About the only place with questions is the Dline and Oline which will be young'ish, but talent wise, they're beyond loaded there so its a joke to act like its a big deal.

Stanford has a lot more questions at key positions so I think USC is going to be the heavy favorite in that game.

At this point, USC is back to fire and forget mode for its program. As usual, the only thing they have to worry about is:

Rich egomaniac boosters, celebs, and agents involvement with the players and recruits. And them expecting locker room and sideline access at any given time.

The hypercompetitive local media who won't hold back on reporting dirt on the program or when players get in trouble.

The expectations from the boosters and fanbase that every game should be won comfortably. Even a close game with good teams, and they go into meltdown crybaby mode

Yeah, the o-line is young but talented. There will be a learning curve for them, but Darnold should be able to cover up for them while they learn and gel.

The d-line looked like a question mark and to an extent, still is. But apparently Tuiopolotu already looks like he's going to be really good and they are getting Bigelow back. So, we may be ok there after all.

As for being "back" to normal talent levels. I think we're still a little thin in a couple of areas (specifically the o and d lines) so an injury or 2 in either of those units could be trouble. But we are definitely close enough to normal talent levels that it certainly can't be used as an excuse anymore.

Rich egomaniac boosters, celebs, and agents involvement with the players and recruits. And them expecting locker room and sideline access at any given time.

This was never really a problem (although USC has addressed it anyway). It wasn't boosters, celebs and agents that got USC in trouble. It was the idiot stepdad of 1 player. There are numerous hoops that now have to be jumped through in order to even attend a practice (I looked into it and decided it was too much trouble). Folks can no longer just show up and expect access like they could in the Pete Carroll days.

While it wasn't ever a problem and wasn't what landed USC in the NCAA doghouse, it was mentioned in the proceedings so USC chose to address it. It sucks for regular folks like me who just want to watch a practice or 2. But better safe than sorry.

A little thin in a couple of areas for USC is still better than the fully loaded talent of all of the other teams in the conference.

Many teams in the pac will have one or two studs somewhere that is equal or better than what USC has for that position, but none are as deep with as many slots with as much backup talent. That's where USC is nearly back to historic levels. Even being just 'nearly' is still well beyond the rest.
