On USC/Washington:

USC has the frontline talent to compete with and beat Washington, even in Husky Stadium. What they don't have, is the depth and experience to do it. For USC to win, the defense has to get a couple of early stops, the offense has to be in rhythm from the opening snap and they need to build an early lead and hang on for dear life (basically the same formula they used to upset Oregon at Autzen in 2011).

For Washington to win, they need to show up and do what they do. If they are too jacked up because of who they are playing, College Gameday being there, playoff implications, etc. they will make mistakes that will make them vulnerable.

End of the day, these are college kids and part of the fun of watching is to see how they respond to these types of situations. Sometimes guys step up that you never expected and sometimes guys that you expect to come up big, don't.

We will find out this week and may get Noah Jefferson back for this game, all pending on his academics. This would be HUGE to get him back, he alone stuffed Bama's run game until he got hurt in the first quarter

The only two USC fans worth taking an avi bet with are TF12 and socaljim. The others don't post enough to have any real skin in the game. Well outside of clark, but he's otherwise tied up on a different bet.

I'd do a one week with tf12. We go way back.

That would definitely help. Part of what makes UW's offense go is Gaskin running the ball. If the defense can slow that down, it will help make their offense more one dimensional and easier to defend. I think the defense is also going to have to risk putting Adoree or Biggie Marshall on Ross 1 on 1 to try and get more pressure on Browning.

Of all of the options their crew looked at, Martin Stadium to see the cougs beat up on Cal would have to be at least the 15th best option. I mean really?

Go look at who USC has played during their streak. It makes a lot of sense. The Pac is well down this year and USC has feasted off the same bottom dwellers that UW and WSU have. The ducks and cardinal being down really hurt everyone's SoS and respect factor.

I don't disagree that the Pac is down but it is a hell of a lot better than the Big 12 or B1G. Nebraska being ranked. Wisconsin being top 10 and Baylor being ranked after getting throttled is idiotic even if SC hasn't beaten anybody but has won 5 straight or whatever.

If SC wins this week they jump high into the rankings. If they lose they would dip back out anyway. They have time to make their case.

Which is the issue I have with the ridiculous polls and how horrible Larry Scott has promoted this conference. Right now, SC is better than Nebraska, Wisconsin, LSU, A&M, Auburn, Baylor etc. If they lose to UW (which they should) they won't be in the top 25 the rest of the way. If SC wins it knocks UW out of the playoffs even though SC would roll Penn State who beat Ohio State. This playoff thing is more flawed than the BCS, which is where I guess my main issue is.

Obviously I'm bias and think our team is a top 15 team but people who have a vote and don't think $C isn't one of the 25 best teams does not deserve to have a vote...much like noone on the playoff committee deserves a vote into how to determine the best 4 teams.

The playoff is way less flawed than the BCS because their making SOS count. It never did with the joke BCS which was based on only 2 factors unless it was the Rose Bowl.

The playoff committee sent a nice loud message last week with the A&M move. stop with the cupcake OOC fests or you could pay the price. Even cupcake fest Bama will see the writing on the wall. they ignore OOC SOS and they'll get nailed one year. the Gumps will scream bloody hell but it will be entirely their own fault.
