kinda expected the Chris Petersen era to be off to a better start. Is this him or the quality of players left after sark left

Well Petersen and his staff came in and totally switched up the defense to their own 3-4 and there have been some bumps with the veteran front 7 adapting to it, but the problem today was the true freshmen DB's UW is forced to give major time to and by the end of the game it just seemed they were playing more scared and confused. They all made some plays, but just not consistent.

UW's offense was 'miles' better than last week (ok, ok, that was bad :L). Offensive line was much better and Cyler really managed the game well. Hard to criticize an offense that hangs 59 on someone, but Cyler really needs to get his throwing rhythm. Even many of his completed screens and other short dump passes were low, behind the receiver, etc. Didn't hit many in stride.

Jury is out on how long it's going to take for them to get a worthy Pac12 caliber defense on the field, but right now they don't feel close.

One last note. Stand out Jr linebacker Shaq Thompson played both ways early in the game and just destroyed the defense taking 3 straight running plays that ended in a long break away TD. Never saw him on the field again on offense, but his first step at going both ways was a resounding success.

That's your first post to this thread tonight? :L Really?

And you wonder why I accuse you all of being obsessed.

UCLA barely limped past Memphis. That's not news worthy, no. Oregon made an impressive come from behind take down of a top ranked team. This doesn't deserve your attention. Your prediction about USC taking down Stanford. Nope. Just UW sucks. Get over us already.

Shit, I did the numbers thinking Oregon State was so far ahead they couldn't possibly let Hawaii back to within 10.5 and now? :L

If they end up covering I'll have to rework those tomorrow. :tsk:

Come on beavs, finish that shit up right.

Damn it! :tsk:

Beavs gave up another score and now Hawaii is covering unless state pulls out some last second score with no time.

All that work on the totals for nothing.

:gaah:

Disregard those.

:L If it's not one thing, it's another....

But it was less about limping and more about chasing this week...

Strange OOC for several clubs. Cal is looking legit, UCLA is struggling, UW's defense looks like Nick Holt returned :-)L), USC is making noise, and Oregon State seems lucky to have escaped with a win in Hawaii.

I'll have the updated numbers shortly. Last time I assume a 38-7 lead over a lower team with a quarter to go is safe for a 10.5 pt cover. :tsk:

I'm supremely confident in our new coaches in the longterm, but it's obvious the transition is not going to be without its challenges.

End of day were 2-0. We didn't do it pretty, but right now were getting a lot of important game reps and experience before PAC play.

Right now if we can be 4-0 entering PAC play, we're sitting well for a bowl birth and we'll see how PAC play goes. I'm not going to over analyze things right now. The coaches are trying a lot of new looks and still plenty to be positive about.

Go Dawgs!! 2-0.

The UW offense looks like it's on the right track and in 3 weeks could be where we thought it would be.

The defense? Not so much so. I don't see how they can get those young DB's up to speed in that span and there is no denying the front 7 is not really playing up to speed on this 3-4 defense Petersen's staff is installing.

Holt couldn't get his kids going after several years. Wilcox didn't take long to get things rolling. Not sure where this staff lies in between those two. At this point I'll believe those DB's can play when I see it and not a moment sooner.

I'm not a fan of the 3-4. Period. The PAC may be a pass happy conf, but we still run the rock as well.

Huskies should be sticking to a 4-3 in the longterm. 3-4 always gives me the creeps.

Go ahead and put Oregon State above UW when they too barely beat the same Hawaii team.

UW's offense took a giant leap forward after that Hawaii game last week to scoring 59 this week. Oline coming together and several running backs make big steps forward as well as solid QB play.

Before every damned duck fan goes crazy up here, go actually watch the highlights of the game. UW does need to make serious steps forward with their defense, but that Adams kid for Eastern is one of the best QB's I've seen walk into Husky stadium in a long time. I can see why that kid had so many awards last year including FCS player of the year and second team all american.

Seriously, I've seen Mariota, luck, and several quality QB's from USC and this kid is on another level above them. No joke. You gotta see the highlights of that game. Those end zone corner passes were just sick. Frozen ropes dead on the money. Sure, a couple of their TD's were blown coverage, or at least the DB's were not playing tight, but at least 3 of them were to guys draped in coverage and still perfect passes.

Eastern's defense is not good, but that offense would score on every Pac12 team it faced.

I'm happy we came out with a W, but it was seriously an honor to see Adams do his thing. He's only a junior so he has plenty of more highlights to make. At 6' I don't know if he will play on Sundays, but maybe Russel Wilson has helped pave the way for more kids like that. Who knows. Kid can play QB.
