The Oldtimer
Older than dirt!!
Yes it is very oddYeah, that was the point. I've never been to another state where you can't drink anywhere near a gaming area. Just seems odd.

Well it's no secret Native Americans at times have trouble with booze.
Many employees are NA as well as folks that gamble.
The particular tribe from the Spirit Mtn Casino is especially bad. I grew up 5 miles from the res.
In this case I am pretty sure it was up to the tribe.Reservations can be pretty rough places. They're basically ghettos unless the casino brings in huge much money. Some of Minnesota's casinos are (or were, haven't been in years) like that, too. I think it's up to the res.
LOL, love this comment, probably because it's true!!!1. Portland sucks.
2. I thoroughly enjoy sitting at gaming tables having cigarette smoke being blown into my lungs by the overweight 60 year old with an oxygen mask, but cant have an alcoholic beverage to wash it down with.
if I were the tribes, I would turn the reservations into mini Las Vegas'....im sure their business would increase.
Not really how local casinos work. Vegas is Vegas. Atlantic City is getting destroyed despite being right next to New York. Branson is a joke. Reno is a joke. Lots of places wanted to be like Vegas, but it's a highlander sort of thing. There can be only one. The Indian casinos are catering to their local market and a lot of the time they're going to get the business regardless of whether they let people get really sauced while they gamble. Most are just old bitties in to pull the slot arm and watch the lights flash every so often. Probably decided it's more trouble than it's worth.
All the casinos in Oregon are in the middle of nowhere...Most take a decent travel time to get to and all they offer is gaming.....with occasional special events.
The only reservation, IMO, in Oregon that is worth anything to stay at and enjoy is Warm Springs which is located in Central Oregon.
Spirit Mountain is a day trip to gamble for a few hours. Chinook at the coast is something to do at the beach if you happen to be near by.
I may be wrong here, and way off....but isn't Des Moines iowa a reservation? Or do they just have casinos everywhere?Right, because we stuck the reservations in the middle of nowhere. That isn't uncommon. Mystic Lake and Treasure Island are near Minneapolis and I assume make tons of money, but there are still several other little ones scattered all over the state, getting those farmer dollars.

Also, what about Oklahoma City? isn't there casinos everywhere there? Reservation or just city allowing casinos?
Dodgers, Lakers, Rams & Trojans....Yes it is very odd
If there is now indeed a tribe serving drinks at the tables then something has changed in their compact since I last reviewed it. Believe me, it wasn't a voluntary thing on the part of any of the tribes.
