True but his teams did compete with the top teams in the country. He was nationally good not just pac good

Right, but nobody needed to be knocked down a peg before USC. Conversely, if USC (or anyone else) is trying to become the new top team in the conference, they've got to go through an Oregon program that's rolling. USC wasn't just great under CPC, they completely dominated and part of the reason they achieved that in basically 2 seasons under Carroll was because nobody else was standing in the way. There wasn't a significant threat besides the occasional upset bid.

Good question. It would depend on the school I suppose. He is ultra-competitive which works well at any program. However, he also liked to have fun and it gave some folks the impression that he didn't take things "serious enough." That actually cost him a few top recruits over the years. In fact, I forget who it was, but there was tOSU player who gave that exact reason (I wonder if he had the same opinion when USC laid a 35-3 beatdown on them a season or 2 later?).

I don't know if he would have had the same level of success, but I think he would have come close.
Pete is a competitor but as suggested his virtue is contributed a lot to circumstance.

Just some facts coming from an objective view point.

If the ducks pull this off Mamba and OD alone will finish off this thread in a couple of weeks.

Between 2002 and 2008 USC vrs top ten teams and was 12-2 .

Between 2014 and 2007 Oregon is 10-5 against top ten teams.

So Oregon has played One more top ten team and lost three more games in its current run than USC did in Petes run.

I think Pete held his own.

DALLAS - Oregon redshirt freshman wide receiver Darren Carrington failed an NCAA administered drug test and did not make the trip to Texas for Monday's national title game against Ohio State at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, according to multiple team sources.

The Ducks arrived here this evening. The team could try to appeal the suspension.

Carrington tested positive for marijuana, according to sources.

Losing Carrington is a huge blow to the Ducks, already minus redshirt freshman wide receiver Devon Allen, who injured his knee on the opening kickoff of last week's Rose Bowl.

I think Mamba is just trippin and letting the twitter rumor mill get to him. If there was major sanctions looming it would be somewhere more credible than speculative twitter posts.

Lol absolutely no violations coming....Carrington is out and maybe we lose one more CB...next man up, it's Oregons mantra and will come to light on the biggest stage. This does not change outcome of the national title game

Hopefully, you are right. But this sounds eerily similar to the Reggie Bush crap. First there were "unsubstantiated rumors," that weren't taken very seriously, close to the NCG. Then the Yahoo Sports article hit a day or 2 before the game.

This. And You all suck lol there was I time I would have been in all my glory over something like this. Then you PAC folk came to SportsHoopla. You're all a great group of guys and a right knit group. A lot like a family wouldn't want to see any if you go through sanctions. Hell I never thought I would see the day I pulled for Oregon good luck ducks and I'm glad to have the rest if the PAC here :suds:
