:wtf2:

SC fans :L what's your take....

brian-baucham-suit.jpg

USC and ex-head coach Lane Kiffin have been sued by former Trojan cornerback Brian Baucham, who claims he was "forced" to play against Cal in 2012 despite ill health.Per the Associated Press, Baucham's suit argues he suffered "cardiopulmonary damage" and "brain injury with neurocognitive deficits" as a result of playing in the game. Baucham collapsed during the fourth quarter, was taken to the hospital with a breathing issue, and spent the following Sunday on a ventilator in intensive care.
"USC and head coach Kiffin were clearly negligent and acted with conscious disregard for Brian's welfare and safety by forcing him to play ... despite his verified medical history and seriously ill condition," Bruce M. Brusavich, Baucham's attorney, told the AP.

Nope. Not able to. What gives? :noidea:

Deleting accounts to troll people wouldn't be as fun as just banning them anyways. You don't get the funny PMs from the guy frothing at the mouth and pounding at his keyboard for e-justice. I used to mod a forum that was fairly large and active and that was the only redeeming part.

I read about this the other day. I seriously doubt, even under Kiffin, that he was "forced" to play. By that I mean, I doubt that his schollie status or playing status or position on the team was threatened.

Having said that, I know how football players and coaches think and the overall culture of football teams. So, I believe that he very likely felt pressure to play. As a player, you want to play. The old saying in football is if you can walk, you can play. It's why trainers, etc. at virtually every level of football are instructed to hide the players helmet in potential concussion situations.

What I think likely happened was that the kid was legitimately sick and possibly had coaches and/or players saying things like: "We could use whatever you can gives us", "Hey, we're shorthanded. If you can play at all, we can use you", etc., etc. Combine that with his natural instinct as a football player to want to play and we end up with this situation.

Hopefully, USC will just settle with the kid out of court for a fair amount and provide whatever medical care/assistance he needs in the future, free of charge.

I'd write you a pm, but I can't. I don't understand a computer system that doesn't allow deletions. It doesn't make sense.

And neither does asking for it. I mean isn't it simple enough to just not come back if that's what you desire? Why ask for a deletion as opposed to simply not coming back?

Right, that's what I was thinking, but what the hell happened to get it to this point? :noidea:

There are a lot of possibilities as to what could have gotten it to this point. One would be how it was brought about in the first place. It could be that the kid got a lawyer and they filed the suit without first trying to negotiate with USC.

It could also be that they tried to negotiate with USC, but didn't like USC's response. I'm sure his family is involved in some way in this (as they should be), so who knows what they are saying/demanding?

It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out. Unless the kids lawyer has some proof that Kiffin and/or other coaches actually did force the kid to play, he likely loses this case if it actually goes to trial. Which is why I hope they just settle out of court to take care of/help the kid.
