I've had plenty of beers. Bro I briefly passed out on the concourse at Husky stadium last Saturday.

We may be 2-0, but we've gone 2-0 against teams that we should've covered the spread against. Both of those games were WAY too close for comfort IMO.

I have absolutely no doubt that the program is going in the right direction, Petersen is a great coach. I just worry about this season in general. The next game will tell a lot.

Not sure this Ilini game will give you the answers you may seek SHF. Huskies should "cova" this one easily...IF NOT, the PAC12 "panic button" should be placed nearby and kept at arms length in the future for sure.

Well they were way to close for comfort, thats a fact. But there was no official spread for the EWU game. mamba came up with one to get the pick'ems out. I never saw UW as that big a favorite, I was thinking more along the lines of a 15pt spread. People shouldnt ignore top tier FCS teams. I really don't think theres many FBS teams that would curb stomp the top 2-3 FCS squads P5 or otherwise. Just my opinion based off of actual results the last few years...

I'm looking for a step up in LB play more than anything this week, to me thats the piece thats just not fitting right yet. The good thing is, LBs are supposed to be a strength on this team, so it's coming...

Like I said before, worse case scenario is we have to accept what people are saying, that it's just too soon to expect a return to Rose bowls and confeence titles. Well...no duh...

We'll get our 7 wins and be bowl bound when the time comes...

For now we're 2-0 and I don't panic until theres a reason to. Well not even then really...just gotta roll with the punches. Weather the storm... we'll get there.

I was up that way about a month ago. My son was playing in the USA water polo Jr Olympics. Had matches at Stanford and Menlo College. I agree Ducks- Trojans would be epic. But lack of depth is not an easy thing to overcome. I see Sark getting the kids (Adoree , Mama, Juju , and eight more) significant playing time which is something Kiffin was scared to do. Hopefully having freshmen filling in will make a difference at the end of the year.

Never understood that with Kiffin, especially when the reductions started. He was able to treat the freshmen like freshmen (redshirt or limit playing time) in his first 2 seasons, but once the schollie reductions started, he never seemed to adjust.

I like that Sark is playing the freshmen. Sure they will make some freshmen mistakes along the way, but the team will be better off later in the season and in the next couple of years for having played them now, imo.

Also, he's done a good job of determining how to use them so far. In the blowout against Fresno, the freshmen were given all kinds of opportunities to make plays. However, in the much closer/tougher game against Stanford, he leaned on his experienced guys a lot more than he did the freshmen.

Oakland is gone so it doesn't matter.

Talk about a let down.

I know your pain, 1995 Angels collapse, and of course being 1 strike away from the World Series in 1986. There is no way I'd count Oakland or Seattle out until its over. Course worst case scenario is still an Angels loss to the Dodgers in the WS. After the Ducks got spanked in game 7 going 0-2 when it counts vs LA would make me feel, well kind of how OSU felt about Florida.

UW had another HC that came in and did things his way with very definite control over things and was very strong in discipline and things turned out ok under him.

Most HC's know only how to coach one way. This is who he is. Expecting him to be someone else because of where the program already was likely would produce bad results.

Just because you aren't happy with your radical change doesn't mean it can't be successful elsewhere.

I'm not particularly worried about the long term prospect with him at the helm. I do worry a bit about his play caller and I'm not sold yet on his DC, but we will see how they progress. I doubt he sticks with either one if they prove to not be able to adapt to this level of football.

I'm somewhere between IB and SF234. Not ready to give up on the season and not seeing a reason to believe 10 wins is reasonable. I'm still thinking 9 wins is possible, but of course the kids will have to keep growing fast to get there.

I don't think any of us were aware of just how bare the cupboards were in the secondary. To have just one veteran back there worth a piss is simply unbelievable for a coaching staff that was so good at getting WR's and skill players. Many of those young kids have huge potential, but they don't get the luxury of sitting out a year and getting up to speed slowly.

I'm not saying Petersen is a bad hire or anything for you guys, just kind found it odd that that is what they were saying.

And comparing him to Don James is kind of silly in terms of where CFB was then and now. Most coach's back in the day would not fare well in today's game just as alot coach's today wouldn't fare well in the yester years.

I just saw the replay of the UW Eastern game so I can't really say for talent as opposed to it looked like the scheming was a little odd.

And yes, I am upset with my school's situation because Leach is a douchebag and had so much talent that fit his gimmick scheme, he has "his" guys in now and it is beyond a joke that they could lose to Rutgers and Nevada.

I agree. Never could figure out why Kiffin didn't use all the bodies he could. He already didn't have as many as other teams then to have talented young players stand and watch while the starters wore out was frustrating.
One thing that still hasn't changed. Cody still seems to look at the half of the field he's going to throw to. He was really bad last year favoring one receiver practically locking on to him even before he gets the snap. Now it's just the side of the field he wanting to throw at. I was hoping they would work that out. He does'nt have the arm strength to give a good DB that kind of an edge.

I BLEED Green and Gold (after Cardinal and Gold of course)

I'm telling you, it's over for the A's. Confidence is absolutely shot and not coming back. It isn't the pitching or bullpen. it's the players squeezing the bats so damn hard it's leaving a mound of sawdust at home plate.

This slump is all in their heads and it's too late in the season for them to rebound. Seattle will have lapped them by end of next week.

Season's over for my A's. Probably one of the epic collapses in sports history.

I'm not saying Petersen is the next James. Not by any stretch. No one can or should predict someone replacing their all time greats. Just like no one should ever expect the next Price for you guys. I was simply saying he came in and radically changed the program and it worked out just fine.

As for the defense looking lost, Wilcox had a 4-3 heavy on the blitzes and now we are shifting to the 3-4 and focusing more on playing to the ball in space. Less blitzes. It's a radical shift. No idea if their schemes are legit or how long it will take these kids to adapt to them. All questions still left out there.

I don't get it, Eastern Washington plays a lot of FBS schools (especially PAC-12) and it always seems to surprised people when the games are close. It's not like this is the first time they've put the scare into a FBS school, and they're currently ranked #2 in the FCS, so they aren't any slouches.

History -

2014 - UW 59, EWU 52
2013 - EWU 49, OSU 46
2013 - Toledo 33, EWU 21
2012 - EWU 20, Idaho 3
2012 - WSU 24, EWU 20
2011 - UW 30, EWU 27

Since 2011, they're 2-4 against FBS and only Toledo won by more than 7, and every one of them was at the FBS schools home. I just don't understand why everyone seems to think it's always a fluke or something, cause they are actually pretty good.

They are a good fcs. But let's be honest. Look who they are playing.

Imagine putting them against Oregon or say 90s Husky teams... Etc

I think he's looked fine so far. No picks. He does need to improve on looking defenders off. I think he'll continue to develop that. He spread the ball around nicely vs. Fresno, but he did lock in on Agholor vs. Stanford, especially on 3rd down. Fortunately, it didn't hurt him.

Hopefully, as the younger receivers develop he's spread the ball around even more and use more of the field.

2014 UW was ??
2013 OSU was 7-6
2013 Toledo was 7-5 (MAC)
2012 Idaho was 1- 11
2012 WSU was 3-9
2011 UW was 7-6

So yes against mediocre to poor FBS schools EWU has done well since 2011. I think a lot of UW fans had higher hopes than mediocre to poor. It still could happen but UW came into the season ranked and I think a lot of UW fans had hoped to finish the season ranked.

Well his first pass against Fresno State should have been picked for a TD the guy stepped in front of it and just dropped it. I'm trying not to complain or bash him because i do like him more than at the beginning of last year but I'm always a realist. Nelson is the reason some of his passes get caught because he's justa better athelete than most DBs who are covering him. Same goes with Adoree and Juju. I just think it was an obvious fault that should have been addressed by now. He's a good kid and doing the best he can with his skills but this is something that can bite the team in the ass in a big game and it's fixable.
