The Q
Hoop’s Villain, Reality’s Hero
Not necessarily. There are many ways this could work out. By ST of 2017 Profar could be starting everyday for us in the middle of the infield.
Not if his speed is still gone.

No he can play this year in the minors with no problems. He isn't out of options yet.
I have never heard of a guy in his young 20s losing his speed from a shoulder injury. Not if his speed is still gone.

And a nice slider...... Great trade
Ken Rosenthal is an idiot. he thinks we should go after Greinke or Price

Let's see how he runs once he is back to playing everyday again next Spring. It just doesn't make sense that he would lose a step without suffering any type of leg injury at his age. Have you ever heard of that happening to a baseball player at that age?who says it's from the shoulder injury.
Profar was never a burner.
And there are reports that he's running a 4.4 home to first. That's slow. Glacially slow.
No, I am saying that there is still a good chance that Profar plays in the middle of the infield for us. The Gallo decision is another one altogether. I do think Profar has a good chance of playing here while Beltre is still at 3B. There are many directions for these things to go in at this point. I don't think the Rangers have given up on Gallo playing 3B eventually though. That very well might not happen, but I think they are still considering that possibility. So are saying Gallo is our 3rd baseman of the future? Because if we hang onto Elvis, I could certainly see Profar as Beltre's replacement.

I believe he's out of options. He needs to be in the bigs from day 1 or be exposed to waivers.
is the same guy who was suspended for 50 games in 2014?
Whether he was a speed burner in the past really isn't the issue. I am sure he is a little heavy. That is why I said let's wait until he has played everyday for awhile before deciding he has lost a step. Any thoughts that he could have permanently lost a step are very premature in my opinion. His work ethic is such that he will get back into the shape he was before.Guys are already slowing down at his age (read dollar sign on the muscle). And he hasn't played in a while. He's probably a bit heavy. He can probably add some speed by cutting some weight. But he was also never a burner guy.

If this kid doesn't rebound it will be due to his shoulder not recovering completely. It won't be due to his speed, his glove or his bat.
