Damn... imagine coming off the mound of the biggest game of your life to learn your father died.

Terrible thing to happen to a young man, during the week of the WS.

His dad had heart disease and had been ill for quite some time. And he knew about his father's passing before the game. The Royals adhered to the Volquez family wishes and didn't announce it until the game was concluded.

Very classy and respectful way to handle a difficult situation.

Now there seems to be conflicted reports on was he told before the game, or after he came out of the game, and was it reported on the news before he knew it.

Lord, why all this drama on something like this? Just too much news and outlets maybe.

Yes it was a terrifically exciting game. Started off with a real bang too.

I fell asleep and when I awoke KC was celebrating. I looked at the hour, and at first kind of assumed I was watching the highlights on ESPN, only to realize the game had gone on forever. Sorry I missed the ending.

Had to retire early and just now getting the news and score. Some game 1.

Yeah I fell asleep after it was tied up at 4. Woke up at about 1:40 am and had to look up the score to see who won. 14 innings, looks like I missed a nail biter.

No idea if this is the norm in a WS game, but last night there were 24 total left on base and batters went 3-21 w/RISP.

I know in the later innings the Royals had a guy in scoring position frequently and couldn't get one home until the 14th. Kudos to Chris Young for getting a win in the World Series.

Royals got 9 innings from former Rangers and 1 from a former Vol (Hochevar).

Sure happy to see them get the win.

Let me ask you this, "do you think Gallo will be our 3rd baseman after Beltre?" It seems many on here don't see this. In fact quite the opposite.

So, if he isn't and Profar is healthy and performing, he might be it. Just a little food-for-discussion.

That is one gigantic "if" for sure (included Gallo in that statement).

both Profar and Tepesche have been awarded Super 2 Qualifying which is 2.136M not sure either deserve that amount especially with Profar not having done much the last 2 years to earn it but i do't let him walk. Tepesche another story though

I'd keep em both.

I know where you're coming from on Tepesch though. But I look at it as it's not a lot of money really, he's only 27 (be 28 next season) and it's good for one year. We can always regroup after 2016 and move on.

interesting question. Who is our 3B after Beltre. I think the org would like Gallo and Maz in COF spot. Profar if ok should be able to play 3B but best trade value is SS. In back of mind I wonder if Profar is ready by ASB then they move Elvis. If healthy Profar is likely more MLB ready. Let me think about specific prediction

The only way they move Elvis mid season is if we are out of it.
